First and 10: Ten Thoughts on the World of Football

By John Sarianides

I am just babbling about all things football.

1. The Raiders are leaving and there is nothing Oakland can do about it. The city had a chance to keep the team and they dropped the ball.

2. Yes. I can see Darrelle Revis coming back to New England but I still don’t think it is a good idea. Revis is not the same player he was in 2014. Can’t run anymore and he doesn’t want to tackle.

3. Adrian Peterson can babble about being patient all he wants. He doesn’t have a market!

4. The Jets signed the ultimate stop gap/mentor quarterback in Josh McCown earlier this week. Jets fans rejoice!

5. The Buffalo Bills are on the brink of moving on from GM Doug Whaley. Too late! They should have done that two years ago.

6. Cal quarterback Davis Webb said earlier this week that teams are telling him he is a first round talent. I don’t know about that. The production is first round worthy but the mechanics are not.

7. Of course former Michigan tight end Jake Butt thinks college players should get paid. He tore his ACL in his final college game.

8. Former Penn State President Graham Spanier was found guilty on one count of child endangerment last week in a Pennsylvania court. At minimum, he gets put on probation. At worse, he gets five years in prison. I hope this piece of crap gets at least a year in the slammer so he can feel some of the pain he put children through when he turned the other cheek to what Jerry Sandusky was doing.

9. I wonder what Carlos Dunlap thinks of Rey Maualuga‘s release. We’re anxiously waiting for your reaction Carlos!

10. The Jags are being investigated for possibly violating the CBA when they asked players to come back to Jacksonville for physicals earlier this month. Oh that tricky Tom Coughlin. He still plays by his own rules.
