First & 10: Ten Thoughts On the World of Football

Can you pick out who is missing from this picture?

By John Sarianides

1. Roger Goodell announcing that he will be at the Patriots home opener is a joke! He had to be there! He’s the freakin commissioner! Thanks for confirming Rog!

2. I love that Bill Belichick skipped out on the AFC Coaches breakfast yesterday. He plays by his own rules and that’s awesome. Belichick has morphed into the modern day Al Davis.

3.  I don’t buy this nonsense that Jay Gruden is “bothered” by Scot McCloughan’s firing. Gruden was on Team Bruce Allen all along.

4. Hue Jackson announced yesterday that the Browns will not be trading the number one pick. I am glad to see that the Browns are capable of making rational decisions.

5.  The Raiders are already taking deposits for season tickets in Las Vegas. Greedy bastards! Mark Davis really wants to make sure the salt is rubbed in the wound for Oakland Raider fans.

6. Sean Payton said yesterday that the Saints conversations with Johnny Manziel were “exploratory” Payton wanted to get know Manziel. What is there to know? Manziel is immature, has a drinking problem and can’t play quarterback in the NFL. He is not exactly hard to figure out.

7. Florida cornerback Teez Tabor ran a 4.75 forty at Florida’s pro day yesterday. He followed that by saying that some people will get fired because their team did not draft him. Either this kid is high or delusional. Tabor will be lucky to go before the fifth round now.

8. When did Dalvin Cook become a character concern? You can question his Combine workout all you want but trying to question the kid’s character to justify not taking him in the first round is ridiculous.

9. Maybe Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio isn’t running as a good a program as we thought.

10. Texas has been struggling offensively this spring. Of course they have. Tom Herman is implementing his system. It will take time for the players to learn it. That is why you have spring football.
