First & 10: Ten Thoughts on the World of Football

The Jets are in full rebuild mode after cutting David Harris last week.

1.The Patriots got their rings Friday night. Now the focus shifts to winning the next one.

2. The Jets releasing David Harris and shopping Eric Decker is not a surprise. They are throwing away the 2017 season because they want a top theee pick in the 2018 draft. They need a franchise quarterback and that is the best way to acquire one.

3. I don’t think Derek Carr is a $25 million dollar a year quarterback. He is not top at the position and he shouldn’t get paid as such.

4. I love that NFL coaches are breaking up the monotony of OTA’s by doing more team building activities. You can never do enough team building.

5. I like that the Falcons are honoring Michael Vick and Roddy White but the ceremonies should be separate.

6.  Taylor Decker missing 4-6 months after surgery is a killer for the Lions. Decker played well the second half of last season and was really coming into his own.

7. Speaking of the Lions. Wide receiver Golden Tate thinks he’s underpaid. Whatever dude.

8. According to Vegas odds makers, Patriots, Cowboys is the most likely Super Bowl match up. Nope! Still don’t buy Dallas defensively.

9. Utah extending Kyle Whittingham through the 2021 season is smart. Whittingham has done a tremendous since taking over for Urban Meyer after the 2004 season. He has complied a 104-50 record during that time.

10. Nebraska freshmen wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson Jr. was cited for marijuana possession last week. The son of former NFL receiver Keyshawn Johnson enrolled early at the school and played in the Spring Game. Not exactly a good way to start your college career.
