Patriots Day 8 Training Camp Preview

The Patriots had their best offensive showing of t camp in yesterday’s practice and will look to build on it. The defense finished practice strong with a solid goal line period. Here is what we will be watching for in Day 8 of training camp.

1. Can Mac and company build off of yesterday?: Mac Jones and the offense had a terrific day on Wednesday. It was the best offensive practice of the summer. The offense was clicking in group and team periods. It would be good to see them carry it over to today.

2. Defensive bounce back: The defense has been good all camp but looked tired and a bit out of sorts at times yesterday. After watching the film, it will be interesting to see what changes the coaches make today and how they move forward with the install.

3. Will we see more out of the injured guys? The lower field has been busy this week with some notable names working themselves into football shape. Will we see Trent Brown and Rhamondre Stevenson practice today? Will Matt Judon be in full pads? We will find later this morning.

4. Depth guys must step up: The Patriots cut wide receiver Ed Lee yesterday. We are more than a week into camp now. Guys in the 75-90 range who want to make this team need to start making every rep count because their opportunities are dwindling. They have another week to make an impact in essence.

5. Offensive line improvement: The offensive line has struggled at times and it is to be expected given the injuries they have dealt with. The young lineman have been the beneficiaries as they have gotten more reps. I thought this group was better in pass protection yesterday but the run blocking leaves something to be desired at times. They need to show more improvement today.

We will have updates throughout today’s practice and player interviews after practice.
