The Curry College Athletic Department has officially announced plans to transform the Walter M. Katz Field into a distinct purple field.

The facility is scheduled for a complete re-turfing during the summer of 2026. The project will replace the traditional green surface with the college’s signature “Curry Purple,” ensuring a unique environment for student-athletes and fans alike when teams take the field this fall.

The transformation of Katz Field will directly benefit a wide range of programs, as the venue serves as the primary home for the men’s and women’s soccer, lacrosse, and football teams.

Beyond the NCAA level, the Curry Rugby Club and various intramural sports teams will also call the new purple surface home, providing a professional-grade experience for the entire campus community.

The facility remains a premier outdoor venue for local Division 3 programs, featuring full stadium lighting and a seating capacity for 2,000 spectators, all of whom will now enjoy a unique vantage point unmatched by most programs in the region.

Athletic Director Vinnie Eruzione emphasized that this enhancement is far more than a simple cosmetic upgrade, describing it instead as a bold statement of the institution’s identity.

“This enhancement to a more colorful, purple turf field represents so much more than an upgrade, it’s a statement about who we are at Curry College,” said Athletic Director Vinnie Eruzione. “Our men’s and women’s NCAA, club, and intramural athletic teams deserve a facility worthy of their commitment, and this field delivers.
