Choate-Rosemary Class of 2025 offensive tackle Will Black has committed to Notre Dame.
The four-star recruit announced his decision on Thursday night. Black had 22 total offers. Aside from the Irish, Black also held offers from Boston College, UConn, Alabama, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, Stanford and Syracuse among others.
At 6-7 295, Black is long, athletic and plays with good fundamentals. He is a natural bender who can dominate in the run game. Profiles as a right tackle for now but eventually as he continues to grow into his frame, he can move over to the left side and thrive.
Black was part of one of the most talent prep programs in the country and is one of the top returning players in New England.
Black talked about what appealed to him about Notre Dame.
“I’ve built a great relationship with the coaches (Rudolph and Freeman) and I really believe in them and think they can develop me into the best player I can be. Notre Dame is known for producing offensive linemen. The academics at Notre Dame are great and set you up for life after football. They have a great culture at Notre Dame and I believe I’m a great fit there.”
Black added: ““I’ve been building a relationship with the coaches there for a while. Once coach Rudolph came in and offered me at camp we have been getting to know eachother better which is who I’m closest with. I got to meet his family and learn more about who he is as a person. His plan for me is to develop me into a player like Joe Alt and send me to the NFL.”
Black has similar upside to Joe Alt and could eventually find himself in position to be a first round pick.
Notre Dame has really carved an impressive footprint in New England. Black is the latest recruit from the region to commit to the Irish. Marcus Freeman and his staff have prioritized New England and it is paying off.
