The Patriots selected Utah offensive tackle Caleb Lomu with the 28th overall pick. New England traded picks 31 and 125 (4th Round) to the Buffalo Bills to move up three spots.
Patriots VP of Football Ops said Long was a player the Patriots targeted and when he was still on the board at 28, the Patriots pulled the trigger and moved up.
