We had a chance to catch up with Brunswick quarterback Ben Rolapp over the weekend. Rolapp announced last week that he was leaving Darien High School for the Brunswick School and reclassifying.
Here is what Ben had to say regarding the move and why he made the decision.
NEFJ: Why did you decide to transfer from Darien to Brunswick? What went into the decision?
BR: “Me and my family decided I needed a higher level of football and that it was time to make the switch. Also wanted to take advantage of the extra year that Brunswick offered.”
NEFJ: How much of a role did your family play in this decision and how difficult was it for you?
BR: “My family was an integral part of this decision and I coould not have made it without them. This has been one of the toughest decisions in my life, it is not easy to leave the community I grew up in.”
NEFJ: Talk about having the opportunity to play for Coach McGillicuddy and getting that extra year of development.
BR: “I’m extremely excited to play for Coach McGillicuddy, the program he’s built, and the players in it. Cannot wait to get to work with such an amazing and respected coaching staff and players.”
NEFJ: What are you looking forward to the most once you start school at Brunswick?
BR: “Football games.”
NEFJ: Finally. For those that may not know you, what do they need to know about Ben Rolapp? Specifically the Brunswick football community.
BR: “Hard working, coachable kid who wants to win.”
