We had a chance to catch up with former Bishop Hendricken standout Rushaune Vilane about his commitment to Kentucky and his career at Bishop Hendricken.

Here is what Rushaune had to say.

NEFJ: Why Kentucky? What made you decide to commit to the Wildcats?

RV: “The reason I chose Kentucky is it just felt like home right when I got there. Everyone was friendly  and nice I loved the energy that I seen.”

NEFJ: Have the coaches told you how they plan on using you defensively? Specifically Coach White.

RV: “Me and Coach White talked on the visit. I plan on redshirting my first year getting bigger stronger and faster and just to learn the game more. I know the speed will be different coming from a small state. I just want to get more developed and just soak everything in and just keep learning.”

NEFJ: What are you feeling right now? How special is it realizing your dream of playing college football?

RV: ”I’m feeling great knowing that it’s set in stone but at the moment I’m ready to compete. I love competing no matter what. It feels great accomplishing a goal in my life that I had set getting to the next level is hard and I just thank god I got the opportunity to get to it.

NEFJ: How much did playing at Bishop Hendricken prepare you for this opportunity?

RV: “Playing at Hendricken definitely prepared me a lot. Just competition wise, they set that standard in the classroom and in sports. I learned from the start to be prepared for when you get your opportunity in a game because that always happens to everyone and once you get your opportunity you got to be ready for it.”
