Brian Belichick and Mike Pelligrino land new jobs

It did not take long but former Patriots safeties coach Brian Belichick and former cornerback coach Mike Pelligrino have landed new jobs.

Belichick will be joining his father and brother at North Carolina while Pelligrino was hired by the Buffalo Bills to work with their secondary. Pelligrino’s role has yet to be revealed but he could be replacing new Patriots safeties coach Scott Booker as the Bills safeties coach.

Pellegrino, 31, began his coaching career as a football operations intern in 2015. The former Johns Hopkins All-American and Major League Lacrosse draft choice earned two rings in  Super Bowl LI and LIII as a coaching assistant. He then spent six seasons as the team’s cornerbacks coach.

Belichick was with the Patriots for nine seasons, winning two Super Bowl rings as well. He began his career as a scouting assistant and worked his way up to safeties coach in 2020, a role he held until last season.

Belichick will be coaching the safeties alongside his brother Steve who is the Tar Heels defensive coordinator.

Both Belichick and Pelligrino became expendable after the Patriots hired Mike Vrabel last month to replace Jerod Mayo who was fired after one season.
