Kickoff:
The good news for suffering BC fans is that there’s only one more home game to sit through. The bad news is that it’s against an 8-1 Georgia Tech team that comes to Chestnut Hill ranked 14th in the country, looking to advance to the CFP. BC is 1-9, losers of nine straight games with their only win this season coming against FCS Fordham back in August.

1st Down: The biggest positive Eagles fans can root for this Saturday is Lewis Bond. Bond is just two catches away from tying Zay Flowers for the program’s all-time receptions lead and three away from breaking it. Bond has quietly put up some pretty impressive numbers (733 yards, 73 catches), despite having a carousel constantly rotating at QB the last few months. Bill O’Brien announced Thursday that Dylan Lonergan will start, but regardless of who plays, Bond should be able to get the record in his final home game, which will be a nice moment in a year full of ugly ones.

2nd Down: Haynes King is a problem and we’re not sure BC has any answers for him. O’Brien called King “a badass” on Thursday and he’s not wrong. King is 215 lbs. and runs like a gazelle. In his sixth year of college ball, King has a 72.1 completion percentage with nine touchdowns and two picks. On the ground, he’s rumbled for 754 yards and 14 touchdowns on 133 carries. The linebackers and secondary will have a tough day and evening trying to wrap him up in the open field. He’s fourth OVERALL in the ACC rushing leader category…

3rd Down: If the Eagles are going to have any chance whatsoever to stay in this one, they HAVE to find a way to run the ball. BC’s rushing offense has been nonexistent in 2025. The Eagles’ highest ranked back in the ACC is Turbo Richard, who is 14th with 506 yards and five touchdowns on 119 carries. As a team, BC has just 935 yards total on the ground this season. Meanwhile, Georgia Tech is second with 1,989 yards and 25 touchdowns. The good news is G-Tech is 16th in the ACC when it comes to run defense, just ahead of BC sitting in dead last.

4th Down: Having said all that, if BC can actually stop the run, then the Georgia Tech passing offense isn’t all that daunting, ranked ninth in the ACC with 261 yards per game. With a guy like Amari Jackson back in the secondary, it’s feasible the pass defense can hold up and keep this close, but if G-Tech can run wild, it’s going to be a long, long day.

Extra Point: As always, Luca Lombardo gets his shoutout from us. Lombardo is still perfect on the year on both field goals (14-14) and extra points (27-27). His longest FG came from 52-yards this season and frankly, he should have had at least two more opportunities against SMU last weekend, but the staff elected to go for it on fourth down twice in the first half and failed to convert both times. We’re running out of chances for him to have a game-winner like Stone predicted earlier in the season, but who knows? Maybe that special moment comes in the final home game at Alumni this season.

Final Drive: At this point, BC fans need to just hope they don’t get embarrassed for another week. There’s a bye before the Syracuse finale, which means it’d be a whole lot more complaining/stewing/calling for people to be fired if it gets ugly again before that last week finally arrives.

Prediction: Georgia Tech 31, BC 17 – The Eagles get a bit of an emotional boost from Senior Day early on, but the Yellow Jackets just have too much talent.
