Bobo returns home a Seahawk and helps beat the Patriots

FOXBORO- Former Belmont Hill star Jake Bobo was back home on Sunday as a member of the Seattle Seahawks. Growing up, the North Andover native was a Patriots fan. Today, he played against his childhood team and he helped his current team beat them. It was quite an experience for the New England native.

“It was good. It’s always good to get a win anywhere, but to get it here with some family in the stands, it was fun.”

Bobo was in awe playing at Gillette Stadium for the first time in his career. Despite taking a moment to soak it all in pregame, Bobo reiterated that it was all about doing his job and helping his team win.

“A little bit in awe. Being that guy sitting up in the top of the stadium watching these guys forever, but as soon as the ball is kicked off, it’s all focus.  It was cool to be able to play these guys. Seeing that logo on the side of the helmet was really cool but just happy to come in here and get a win.”

Bobo only caught 2 passes for 15 yards but he did his part as a blocker and on special teams. He considers himself lucky to be apart of such a talented receiver room like the one in Seattle.

“Yeah, DK is special and so is Jaxon. Just being in a room with these guys and in an offense with these guys is awesome. It’s fun for me. Geno [Smith] played great and defense got a stop in overtime so everyone came to play today. Obviously, just happy to come back here and get a win.”

The return home must have felt even more special for Bobo earlier this week when he was named game captain by head coach Mike MacDonald.

As previously mentioned, Bobo played his high school ball at Belmont Hill. He committed to Duke out of high school. Bobo played four years for the Blue Devils before transferring to UCLA. Playing for Chip Kelly and the Bruins solidified his status as an NFL caliber player.

Now Bobo, a kid from Massachusetts is helping the Seahawks win games and it is just how he imagined it when he was a kid going to Patriots games.
