Bill Belichick took out a one page ad in Sunday’s Boston Globe, thanking Patriots fans for their support over the last 24 years.
Belichick commended fans for their willingness to go anywhere to support the Patriots.
“Nowhere in America are pro sports fans as passionate as in New England and for 24 years, I was blessed to feel your passion and power. The Patriots are the only NFL team representing SIX states but in reality, Patriots Nation knows no borders.”
“You traveled from coast to coast and internationally. Numerous times, you overtook opposing stadiums and were the last fans standing. We loved it! You gave your precious time, resources, and energy to our team. We appreciated it!”
Belichick never got enough credit for his sense of humor during his tenure here but he was funny at times and that was evident at the end of the ad.
“You may even have enjoyed my fashion sense and press conferences, or maybe you just tolerated them.”
The way Belichick wrapped things up tugs at your heart strings as a Patriots fan.
“I loved coaching here and, together, we experienced some amazing moments.”
Patriots fans may have been frustrated in recent years, but we can all agree. We were fortunate to witness the greatest coaching career in NFL history.
Thank you Coach Belichick for so many great memories. You turned the Patriots into one of the greatest franchises in all of professional sports.
