BC goes international with latest 2026 pickup

As if the good vibes surrounding the 2026 recruiting class weren’t good enough already, the staff got a whopper on Sunday night.

German native Bruno Werner – who is part of the NFL Academy program for European players – announced his commitment to BC on social media around 7:00 p.m. after he was one of 13 players on an official visit to Chestnut Hill this weekend.

Werner is the 22nd commitment for the class of 2026 so far and is now the 12th commit in the class from outside of New England.

Werner had 10 offers including schools like BC, Syracuse, Rutgers and Mississippi State. Florida and UNC had also shown recent interest according to Rivals and other New England schools UConn, UMass, URI and Bryant all had offers to him as well.

The NFL Academy has been a source of quality talent for college football for quite some time now and BC has been no stranger to it. The Eagles most recently brought in Ireland native Andy Quinn for his first spring with the team through the NFL Academy and already had Pap Abdoulaye Sy from Sengal.

Bruno is listed at 6’9,” 275lbs. and is a tackle that could flourish under Matt Applebaum. If you don’t believe us or Applebaum’s recent track record (see Ozzy Trapilo and Drew Kendall), then Werner’s Hudl tape against IMG Academy certainly tells quite a story.

Werner is quick and can get downfield whether it’s run blocking or in the screen game. He overpowers people with his size at time and assuming he gets on that Division 1, ACC nutrition plan, he’s only going to get bigger with that big frame. He’s seemingly a perfect fit for O-line you.

The ability to attract international guys on special teams is one thing, but getting a potential game changer up front at a premier position like left tackle can’t be overstated.

Not only that, but given how much football Werner still has to learn just based on lack of true game-playing experience at a high level, this is basically a big ball of clay that Applebaum, Will Lawing and Bill O’Brien could potentially mold into the next big thing to come out of BC (literally and figuratively).
