In a spring surprise, Eian Bain is leaving Franklin High School where he has been the head football coach for the past eight seasons to take over as the new head coach at Bridgewater-Raynham. Bain replaces Lou Pacheco.
For Bain, the decision to leave Franklin was extremely difficult but he ultimately did what was best for his family. Bain lives in Raynham.
“I live in Raynham. Franklin is a 35+ minute drive for me. I don’t mind the commute, but as my kids are getting older became very hard for me to share our program with them. This change will allow me to coach and impact a community that family can be a part of. They can share in the process more actively. I’ve always said that BR was the only HS job I would leave Franklin for. I could not pass at the chance.”
Bain inherits a Bridgewater-Raynham program that has struggled of late but is also a program that has a great history and tradition. Despite that, Bain wants to focus on the process rather than talking about an immediate return to glory.
“We will be a program focused on the process and not a result. We will hold true to our Core Values and build from the inside out. And we are gonna Row the Boat.”
Bain added: “A lot of people have made BR a great athletic community. Not just in football, both towns share immense pride in their shared high school programs. There is a history here that we need to tap into and respect. I have always valued the history that Franklin had, but tried instill our culture and make it our own.”
Leaving Franklin was a difficult decision for Bain. He says he will always be grateful to the school and he appreciates the people in the community who supported him and the program.
“First is thank you for giving me a chance, believing, and supporting us. This is a time where being a high school coach is tough because of the noise. The Franklin people always supported us. We weren’t for everyone, but for the most part, it was a program that was lifted up by the people around and not torn down. We dealt with a great amount of adversity, both in our personal lives the lives and as a community. We always rose up, stood together, and held strong. ”
Bain also looks back fondly on the success of the program, especially in recent years.
“The wins were amazing, and I can tell you every snap of every one of them was special to me. But the connections to the kids, people, and town as a whole will be with our family forever.”
In the end, family comes first and while the decision to move on from Franklin was a difficult one, Bain and his family are excited for the opportunity at Bridgewater-Raynham.
“It was not an easy decision for us, but it was the right decision for our family. We are very excited to get after it BR and get to work, but our time in Franklin is always going to be unique and special to our family. Thank you from Jennifer, Michael, Andrew (rest in peace), Ryleigh, and Coach Bain. Continue to Row the Boat.”
