Avon Old Farms Class of 25 offensive tackle Owen Aliciene committed to Penn State over the weekend after visiting the school for junior weekend.
Aliciene held offers from 18 schools including Penn State. He also had offers from Boston College, UMass, UConn, Florida State, Michigan State, Texas A&M, SMU, Pitt, Maryland, Louisville and Kentucky among others. He ultimately committed to James Franklin and the Nittany Lions.
The 6-7 275 tackle is a three star recruit and the sixth ranked player in his class in Connecticut according to 24/7.
Aliciene is the first offensive lineman to commit to Penn State from the Class of 2025. He joins fellow Connecticut recruits Luke Reynolds (TE, Class of 24), redshirt freshman defensive end Joseph Mupoyi and sophomore cornerback Zion Tracy. Both of them played for Ernest Anderson at St. Thomas More.
On film, Aliciene is strong and roots out defenders along the line of scrimmage. He plays with good technique and has good feet. He can get to the second level and block defenders in space and is a terrific short area pass blocker. He does need to play with better bend but he will improve in that area this season.
Penn State continues to have a strong presence in New England and this latest commitment is proof of that.
