June 12, 2024

We’re on to the summer time, ladies and gentlemen. The Patriots officially wrapped up the spring with the final mandatory minicamp practice on Wednesday morning and as usual, it’s tough to put too much stock into a lot of things we’re seeing so far, but there were a few things that stood out in the just-about two hour session. For the final time until late July, here’s everything I saw…

Observations from Day 1 of Patriots mandatory minicamp

June 10, 2024

The third ‘first’ of Jerod Mayo’s coaching career took place on an absolutely beautiful day in Foxborough on Monday. The first mandatory minicamp practice of the Mayo era lasted two hours and while it wasn’t pretty at times – especially for the offense – there was still some good stuff to take away from the non-padded session. The second stage of the Jerod Mayo wrapped up on Tuesday and fittingly, it was the defense having its best day so far. Step 1 was the draft, Step 2 was rookie minicamp and voluntary OTA’s. The OTA part of the schedule wrapped up with the final session before mandatory minicamp starts next week. This one was the most competitive yet (out of three with no pads on, important to…

June 3, 2024

Image courtesy of Boston Renegades Following the franchise’s first loss since April of 2019 two weeks ago, Boston Renegades head coach John Johnson wasn’t changing his tone or the approach. After all, five straight championships allow you to stay true to the process. It was the right move, as Boston put on quite a show back home in Revere on Saturday night, putting up a ridiculous 90 points in a…
