NFL: The Anthem Vote By the Owners Reinforces the Notion That They Are Businessmen First

May 24, 2018

The NFL owners voted on a new anthem policy at yesterday’s Spring League meetings. Under the new policy, anyone on the sideline is expected to stand for the national anthem. If players do not want to stand for it, they have the option of staying in the locker room. If a player kneels during the national anthem, the NFL reserves the right to fine the organization, not the player. However…

Patriots Pulse Blog: The Belichick, Brady Feud Takes Center Stage at OTA’s

Voluntary OTA’s began in Foxboro on Monday and Tom Brady was once again nowhere to be found. Brady’s absence has been the topic of conversation thus far, overshadowing any talk about the team. His absence is further proof that there is clearly a rift between the quarterback and the organization. I don’t have well placed sources who told me there is a rift, but it blatantly obvious there is an…

The Cleveland Browns will surprise people in 2018. I know they have become a sexy pick for experts because of the additions of Baker Mayfield, Jarvis Landry and Carlos Hyde but there are other reasons I like this team. The hiring…

Patriots Pulse Blog: Tom Brady Not Being At Voluntary Workouts is Not a Big Deal

May 14, 2018

I have come around to the notion that Tom Brady skipping voluntary workouts is really not a big deal after all. If any other player including Rob Gronkowski missed them, then I would have a problem with that. When your 40 year old all world quarterback misses them, it is not a big deal. The local media has been whipped up into a frenzy regarding Brady’s absence. Many are speculating…

Patriots Pulse Blog: The Patriots Surprisingly Release Antonio Garcia.

The Patriots released offensive tackle Antonio Garcia yesterday. Garcia was a 2017 third round pick. He was originally drafted as a potential replacement for Nate Solder at left tackle but he missed his entire rookie season due to blood clots in his lungs. As a result, Garcia lost 40 pounds and was not the same physically. It’s rare to see Bill Belichick give up on a young player like that,…

Patriots Pulse Blog: The Patriots Should Give Gronk More Money

Reports indicated earlier this week that the Patriots were considering reworking Rob Gronkowski‘s contract and adding a year to it. In the process, the Patriots would bump Gronkowski’s salary up in each of the next two seasons. Gronkowski is under contract for two more seasons at a base salary of $8 million in 2018 and $9 million in 2019. He is a bargain at those numbers and has clearly out…

Patriots Pulse Blog: The Patriots Not Picking Up the Fifth Year Options on Malcolm Brown and Danny Shelton is not a Surprise

The Patriots have decided not to pick up the fifth year options for defensive tackles Malcolm Brown and Danny Shelton. While this may seem surprising, it really is not that surprising. Let’s start with Brown. If the Patriots picked up Brown’s option for 2019, they would have to pay him $7.8 million. Bill Belichick does not want to do that. Instead, he would prefer to try and sign Brown to…
