NFL At Large: New Rule Changes Will Make the Game Safer and Softer.

March 22, 2016

The NFL announced several rule changes for the 2016 season. Here the changes and my thoughts on them. 1. Chop Blocks Have Been Outlawed: Is this really a surprise? I’m surprised it took this long to outlaw all chop blocks. I don’t agree with the change but given where the game is going, I can’t say I’m surprised. The game is getting softer in all aspects. 2. Horse Collar Expanded: Defensive players…

Bloody Red Sox Blog: Travis Shaw Better Start Over that Abomination Sandoval at Third Base!

March 22, 2016

John Farrell needs to do what’s best for business and start Travis Shaw over that fat abomination Pablo Sandoval at third base. Shaw has been the better player this spring and he’s earned the right o be the starter. I know the Red Sox are paying Sandoval $19 million a season but I don’t give a rat’s ass! Shaw is performing at a higher level and he should play over…

Doc’s Daily Rants for March 22nd 2016

March 22, 2016

Belichick wasn’t feeling the microphones and recorders in his face yesterday down in Boca. 1. I would like to extend a big thanks to the NBA schedule makers for putting the Sixers and Magic on the schedule this late in the season. After the shitting the bed the past week, the Celtics needed two winnable games like this. 2. I don’t blame Bill Belichick for not wanting any microphones in…

Patriots Pulse Blog: Nick Fairley Would Be a Great Fit in the Patriots 4-3 Defense.

March 22, 2016

The Patriots met with free agent defensive tackle Nick Fairley yesterday at the NFL Annual League Meetings in Boca Raton, Florida. Fairley spent last season with the St. Louis Rams. He hasn’t quite lived up to the lofty expectations of him when he was drafted 13th overall by the Detroit Lions in 2011. Weight problems and off the field issues have derailed his career thus far but he has enough…

Patriots Pulse Blog: Sorry Bobby, But the Draft Pick Ship Has Sailed.

March 21, 2016

I give Bob Kraft an A for effort when it comes to recouping the Patriots first round pick in next month’s draft but as far as I’m concerned, it’s too little, too late. Kraft should been trying to recoup that pick ten months ago, not now. Roger Goodell is not going to give the Patriots pick number 29 back. It’s not going to happen. There’s a reason the NFL…

I’m Just Sayin: The Bruins and the Celtics Have Come Back to Earth.

March 20, 2016

Two weeks ago, some people around these parts were calling the Bruins and Celtics potential titles contenders. The Bruins had just gone toe to toe with Chicago and Washington, the two best teams in the NHL and proved that they could play with them. The Celtics were in the midst of a 14 game home winning streak and many NBA pundits were talking about them as a potential threat…

2016 NFL Draft: The Browns Need to Do the Right Thing and Draft Carson Wentz Over Jared Goff and Paxton Lynch.

March 19, 2016

The Browns need to do the right thing and draft Carson Wentz with the second overall pick.  By all accounts, Cal quarterback Jared Goff had a terrific workout yesterday at Cal’s pro day. He impressed scouts with all of the different throws he completed during the work out and he moved well in and out of the pocket. Several teams spent time with Goff yesterday including the Browns who reportedly…

I’m Just Sayin: Let Me Give You Three Reasons Why Upsets Happen in the NCAA Basketball Tournament.

March 19, 2016

Those that know me know I can’t stand March Madness. I think it’s the most overrated sporting event of the year. That being said, what makes the tournament so popular, especially amongst the casual sports fan is the upsets. There have several big upsets thus far through two days. It shouldn’t be a surprise however. Unlike other sports, basketball is a little different because it’s not always about talent….
