Anthony Fucillo new Belmont Hill coach

This week, Belmont Hill dipped into the college ranks to find its new coach.

Harvard safeties coach Anthony Fucillo was named the new head man at Belmont Hill.

Several coaches in the Independent School League have college experience, and Fucillo is the latest.

A Winthrop native and Tufts alum, Fucillo takes the reins at Belmont Hill, a traditionally strong program.

Although Belmont Hill is usually solid, the team experienced some growing pains last year with a 3-5 season. Still, the year had some highlights, including a win over a very good Milton Academy squad.

A young, energetic coach like Fucillo should have a number of benefits. In the competitive ISL, Fucillo should be able to attract some top talent to Belmont.

Being able to bring in quality players is part of the job in the ISL, and Fucillo should do that.

All this means is that the league should be even tougher. Last year, the ISL had a four-way tie atop the standings, and it would have been five if Milton could have found a way to beat Belmont Hill.

Going forward, you should see more parity, if not to the extent you saw last year.
