NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero is reporting that Tom Brady has reached out to Bill Belichick to gauge his interest in coaching the Las Vegas Raiders.
Brady is a minority owner of the Raiders who fired Antonio Pierce on Tuesday. According to Pelissero, Brady isn’t the only one who has reached out to Belichick. Multiple teams have since he was hired by North Carolina.
“Multiple NFL teams have inquired about whether legendary coach Bill Belichick would reconsider his move to college football,” Pelissero wrote. “Including the Las Vegas Raiders, whose new minority owner Tom Brady spoke recently with his old coach about what it would take to make a reunion happen in Las Vegas, per sources.”
A month ago it seemed like the league had moved on from Belichick. Belichick was so desperate to get another opportunity that he reportedly even contacted the Jets to gauge their interest in him as a candidate for their opening.
How times have changed. All of sudden, league owners and executives see Belichick in a different light after his unexpected move to the college ranks.
Brady is expected in to be involved in the hiring process for the next coach of the Raiders. Former Patriot and fellow Raider minority owner Richard Seymour is expected to play a part in deciding who the next coach is.
Former Patriot Mike Vrabel has been strongly linked to the Raiders as well. Vrabel is scheduled to interview with the Patriots on Thursday.
Dianna Russini reported on Wednesday afternoon that Belichick has no plans to return to the NFL. Stay tuned.
