New Patriots LB K’Lavon Chaisson eager to get going in New England

FOXBOROUGH – Meeting the media for the first time as a Patriot on Tuesday, the team’s newest linebacker K’Lavon Chaisson was clearly ready to begin this new chapter of his career.

After spending his six year career in Jacksonville and then Las Vegas last year, Chaisson believes he can bring just what this team needs as things continue to turn over,/

“Just relentless,” Chaisson said when asked for his play style and what fans can expect from him. “That’s the ultimate identity that I feel like I want to portray and the Patriots want to portray. Relentless, man. Nonstop for four quarters. If it takes a fifth quarter, we take it there. Something I embody is just…every chance I get to be able to go nonstop.

“As a player, as a pass rusher you have an understanding that as much as you don’t want to settle, it takes one out of 60 plays to be a dominant pass rusher in this league. If you get that going for 17 games, man that’s a good setting your team will be in, for sure.”

Over the last five years, Chaisson has been very dependable, playing in 16, 15, 9, 17 and 15 games, even though he’s only started in 15. He’s got one interception (last year), one forced fumble, 10 sacks and 67 solo tackles. Five of those sacks came last year, specifically in the final six games of the season.

“Just getting an opportunity to produce and play,” Chaisson said of the strong finish to 2024. “I think that was just kind of the biggest thing I was excited about and looking forward to. Thankfully, when you have that, being part of a prestigious league like the NFL, man, you’ve got to be able to show out and take advantage of those opportunities regardless of how the season’s going.”

So, could that lead into more production this season? Mike Vrabel, the staff and Chaisson’s teammates certainly hope so.

“I do think it’s a great confidence establishment, for sure,” he added. “To know you’re able to contribute to this league and you’re able to perform at a high level – just how I originally thought I was able to contribute to the NFL when I joined – it’s a great chance to be a part of and it’s definitely something I definitely do not take for granted.”

Chaisson was also pumped to see some more LSU Tigers joining the roster in Will Campbell and Bradyn Swinson.

“I was super excited we got more Bayou Bengals in the building,” he said with a smile. “I think the more we have on the team, the better chance we have against opponents.”
