NEFJ: When did you start playing football?
JKJ: “I started playing football when I was 11 years old, I was playing 2k11 and my grandmother was set in stone on making me play football, I refused until she literally forced me on the field. But once I had my first practice, I fell in love with the game.”
NEFJ: What do you love about the game of football?
JKJ: “I love this game because there’s nothing in the world like it. There’s an art to each position. When I look at playing the position receiver, there’s an art to it in route running and catching the ball. Seeing guys like Julio jones run a masterful route and then go make an insane catch, is like a Picasso piece of art in my eyes.”
NEFJ: What made you decide to commit to UMass? Why was it the right school for you?
JKJ: “When I was in the portal I had multiple D1 offers both FCS and FBS. On my visit, UMass did something unique, something different. They didn’t put up my highlights and say this is what we see. They put up the film of my highlights effort plays, the plays me backside putting a corner in the dirt on a run play and tellin me. “We see your value, we want the world to see it too”. That moment I knew.”
NEFJ: How much has UMass prepared you for the opportunity to play in the NFL?
JKJ: “Playing at UMass had its ups and downs for sure, but thing that really changed the game for me was playing P5 talent and consistent challenge after challenge. If there’s one thing about me it’s how much I love a challenge and compete. I can’t wait to get to league and get to play against Pat Curtain, Jayce Horn, Sauce Gardner, and all the other all pro corners. I’m excited to play the best, and I wanna not only compete, I want to dominate.”
NEFJ: When you are not playing football or doing anything football related, what do you like to do off the field?
JKJ: “If I’m not in football, training, or watching film, I’m a family man. Spending time with my 2 amazing kids means the world to me. Most guys go out to the club, I go home and watch Disney movies with my kids. I’ve been blessed to be a father at an early age, it allowed me to mature younger. So I think that’s the biggest thing is spending time with those who I love most and really being locked in on making sure they are the priority.”
NEFJ: What is your favorite pregame meal and hype song?
JKJ: “My favorite pre game meal is Steel cut oats and fruit, with a protein shake. I like to feel pretty light on game days, oats is good for gut health, doesn’t make you feel bloated. My pre game song is 100 shots by young dolph, once I put that song on, I’m ready to go.”
NEFJ: What is an NFL team getting in you if they draft or sign you?
JKJ: “Whatever team drafts me, they’re getting a all time receiver for their organization. Whether that’s winning a Super Bowl or all time receiver or a captain. I’m looking to do it all, but I’m willing to make the sacrifices to be successful. I trust in God and his plan for me, he’s never led me stray, and he’s not going to now.”
