Central Connecticut State is riding the wave of a seven win season and an NEC title by adding 26 new faces to the roster.
The Blue Devils announced 11 players in December: Mykhi Davis (Washington, DC). Kyle Greene (Baltimore, MD), Benjamin Howard IV (Roxbury, MA), Jaden Langford (Windsor, CT), E’ryan Lawrence (Buffalo, NY), Jesus Martell (Meriden, CT), David Rivera, Jr. (Waterbury, CT), Dravyn Roberts (East Hartford, CT), Davon Smith, Jr. (Baltimore, MD) Jeremiah Tucker (Rochester, NY) and Damani Williams (Englewood, NJ).
Today’s signees, Devon Anderson (Bryant), Derek Berlitz (West Virginia), Brayden Hall (Coastal Carolina) Mel Jacobs III (East Carolina) Davion Jennings (Akron) Dekavis Preston, (Charleston) Shea Terry (Bryant) and Donovan Wadley (Merrimack) joined the program at the start of the spring semester. Five signees; Warrick Kyler, Daniel McLees, Romelo Tables, Lazaryus Toombs and George Wiley V will come to New Britain for the fall season.
Head Coach Adam Lechtenberg is excited to be adding the new faces to the roster and coaching them.
“I am thrilled to add another group of talented players to our program,” said Lechtenberg, the 2024 NEC Coach of the Year. “I am excited about the midyear transfers we have on campus, and we hit some critical needs with a few more talented high school signees this week. Overall, I am very happy with this entire class. I am grateful to all our coaches and support staff who worked so hard to find such great people to join our program. I continue to be excited about the direction our football program is headed.”
The addition of Wadley, the 2023 NEC Offensive Player of the Year gives the offense a big play weapon that can complement quarterback Brady Olson and running back Elijah Howard. Former Maloney High School standout Jesus Martell and Windsor standout John Manning could make an impact as freshmen.
Defensively, the Blue Devils added a lot of experience and talent that should help them replace some key contributors from last season’s team.
It was a good day for a program that is on the rise and well positioned to continue to stay in contention in 2025 and beyond.
