The Patriots are in Miami today to take a Dolphins team that has given them trouble through the years in South Beach. The Fins won the first meeting here on October 6th, 15-10. It was a game the Patriots had a chance to win but could not pull it off.
Here are five match-ups to keep an eye on today.
Christian Gonzalez vs. Tyreek Hill: Gonzo didn’t move around much last week against the Rams as the Patriots predominately played match zone. He will travel more in this game and expect him to once again be matched up against Hill in what should once again be a quality match up between the two. They have had some good ones the last two years.
Front seven vs. Dolphins run game: Miami hasn’t run the football as well as they usual do this far this season but the Dolphins run game is still potent and still has big play potential. Run fits, getting off blocks and taking good pursuit angles is key today.
Keion White vs. Terron Armstead: Armstead is still an elite level offensive tackle and he is a good athlete. He will be a tough match up for White but one White can win if he uses his get off and speed to his advantage. He needs to have a plan. If he does, he could get consistent pressure on Tua Tagovailoa.
Christian Barmore vs. Jack Brewer: A match up the Patriots should dominate in this game. Barmore is still getting into game shape but his size, speed combination could be too much to handle for the fundamentally sound but undersized Brewer. Barmore should have a big impact on this game.
Patriots secondary vs. Tua: The Patriots secondary has been able to give Tagovailoa some issues in the past with disguising so look for more of the same today. The Patriots have to move around and cloud his read post snap. They must force him to hold the ball as long as possible so the pass rush can get there.
