The Patriots and Bills renew their rivalry in Buffalo today. As always, there is always the match-ups within the match-up.
The Bills have owed the match-ups of late but as the Patriots proved in week seven, they have the requisite pieces to win head to head in this match up.
Here are our five top match ups today.
1. Jonathan Jones vs. Stefon Diggs: This is the key match up today. Jones has had success in the past Diggs but he has also had trouble with him. Look for the Patriots to double Diggs in certain situations. If he’s lined up at the X, they will double him. If he is in the slot, Jones will have him one on one.
2. Vedarian Lowe vs. Gregory Rousseau: Loew has struggled this season, especially against speed rushers with length. That’s Rousseau. He will give Lowe problems coming off the edge. The Patriots will need to find a way to help Lowe in certain situations.
3. Kyle Dugger vs. Dawson Knox: Dugger has been matched up against opposing tight ends all season long and has done a good job. Knox and Dalton Kincaid are tough match-ups because they can be moved around in formations. Regardless, Dugger has the skill set to match up in man to man vertically and underneath.
4. Alex Austin vs. Gabe Davis: Key match-up here. Austin is long and athletic, which should help him against Davis who is one of the top vertical threats in the NFL. Staying in phase and not taking chances when playing the ball will be key for Austin.
5. Patriots interior offensive line vs. Bills defensive tackles: Buffalo’s tackles have played well all season. They have been a force during the recent winning streak. David Andrews and the young guards will have their hands full all day inside. They need to hold up, especially on passing downs.
