UMass: Minutemen add size and toughness with Cole Garcia

Another day, another commitment for the Minutemen. Rice graduate transfer offensive lineman Cole Garcia announced today that he is committing to UMass.

Garcia was in Amherst over the weekend on an unofficial visit. He met with Don Brown, offensive line coach Alex Miller and the rest of the staff.

The recruiting pitch must have worked because Garcia picked UMass over offers from Jackson State, New Mexico State and UTEP.

The Dallas, Texas native has two years of eligibility left. He made 23 career starts at Rice. He offers versatility in that he can play guard or tackle.

The 6-4 320 pound Garcia adds size and a physical element to the Minutemen offensive line. He will also provide some much needed experience as UMass will be inexperienced at a couple of positions up front.

Brown, recruiting coordinator Jeff Moore and the rest of the staff continue to work hard to rebuild the roster. What they have done thus far is impressive.
