The Massachusetts Pirates are one win away from being IFL champions in their inaugural season after beating the Frisco Fighters 43-22 last night.
The Pirates will face the top seeded Arizona Rattlers for the United Bowl which will be played on Sunday in Arizona.
The Pirates advanced thanks in large part to their running game and defense. Pirates running back Justin Stockton rushed for 109 yards and scored two touchdowns while the Massachusetts defense limited Frisco to just 23 yards rushing in the win.
The Pirates have used a pretty consistent formula all season long to get to this point. Run the ball and play sound defense.
It won’t be easy against the top seeded Rattlers but the good news is, the Pirates won the lone match up between the two teams on July 18th 68-44. It was the Pirates best game of the season offensively.
Now the Pirates have to travel west and go through Arizona again if they want to be called champions.
