NEFJ 25 DAYS OF THANKSGIVING RIVALRIES – St. John’s Prep vs. Xaverian

Series record: Xaverian leads the all-time series 30-21

A look at the rivalry: While this isn’t one of the longest rivalries on our countdown, it is one of the most competitive. Xaverian saw a six-game win streak over the Eagles end last season with a 35-0 thumping by the eventual D1 state champion Eagles.

Quite a bit of talent has graced the field when these two teams meet as well. For instance, NEFJ’s own Cory Bailey was on the 1992 Xaverian team and he pointed out that particular year’s game had eight players on the field that eventually made it to NFL camps or better. Bailey, the Hasselbecks, Greg Comella, Adam Newman, Rob Konrad, Brian Connolly and current SJP head coach Brian St. Pierre were all on the field that morning.

Arguably one of the top moments in the rivalry came a few years ago when Xaverian was able to clinch the league title with a win over the Eagles at Fenway Park. There are sure to be many more memories crested by these two programs in the years ahead.
