NFL: Dime Package for Week 5

Week five of the 2017 season will be remembered as the weekend that NFL superstars across the league saw their season’s end due to injury.

Here are ten thoughts on the weekend that was.

1.Maybe Big Ben should have retired after all. According to Jaguars players, he looked “tired” and “old”. Roethlisberger was awful on Sunday against the Jags throwing five interceptions in a 30-9 loss. All of a sudden, he and Eli Manning can’t play anymore. I guess 14 seasons in the NFl will do that to you.

2. Carson Wentz had his coming out party against the Cardinals. Wentz threw for 304 yards and 4 touchdown passes in Philly’s 34-7 thrashing of Arizona. Wentz is only scratching the surface. He is a bona fide stud.

3. The Giants lost Odell Bechkam Jr. (thanks to an awful throw from Eli) and Brandon Marshall for the season in the same game. So much for the Jets being the worst team in New York huh? The Giants are a train wreck right now and things are about to go from bad to worse.

4. Speaking of the Jets, this weekend’s game against the Patriots all of a sudden has meaning. Patriots fans had checked it off on their schedule as a win but now all of a sudden, this game might be competitive. For a half anyways. The Jets still suck.

5. Memo to the national media. The Carolina Panthers are a good football team. No one gives them love nationally but they should. Cam Newton is playing at an MVP caliber level again, the running game is dynamic and the defense generate turnovers. It hasn’t been pretty but the Panthers are good enough to get back to the playoffs.

6. I hope Hue Jackson has enough common sense to sit DeShone Kizer. The kid is not ready to play. Don’t stunt his growth by sticking with him. It is already a lost season in Cleveland. Go with someone else.

7. Don’t sleep on the Seahawks. They still play pretty good defense despite the fact that their running game is a mess right now.

8. Aaron Rodgers must get his jollies off by breaking the hearts of Cowboys fans. I swear. He is totally in their heads right now.

9. Speaking of the Cowboys. When are Cowboys fans going to stop pretending that Jason Garrett is the problem in Dallas? He is not the problem. A bad defense that couldn’t stop a nose bleed with a towel is the problem. Garrett is the least of the Cowboys problems.

10. Barring an epic collapse, the road to Super Bowl 52 in the AFC will go through Arrowhead. Kansas City is tough place to play in January.
