NFL: Week 5 Picks

Could the Jets get over .500 with a win today? You bet they can!

10/8 1:00 ET At NY Giants -3 LA Chargers 44.5: Both teams are 0-3 so something has to give right? The Giants are favored by 3 and I am going to put my money on Big Blue as a home favorite. Playing the early game is tough on teams in the east coast.

10/8 1:00 ET At Cincinnati -3 Buffalo 39.5: The Bills are coming off of a big win in Atlanta last week. Can they win back to back road games? Sure but I don’t see it happening. The Bengals are playing better and I think they will come out looking to prove that their early season struggles are an aberration. They are better than they’ve played. I buy it. I’m putting my money on the Bengals.

10/8 1:00 ET At Cleveland PK NY Jets 39.5: I still can’t believe the Jets are 2-2. I certainly did not see this coming. I thought this game would be their first chance at a win. Now, they could be over.500 with a win today. This game is a pick em. I’m picking the Jets. Their defense will give the Browns fits and the offense will make just enough plays for them to win.

10/8 1:00 ET At Pittsburgh -8 Jacksonville 42.5: The Jags followed up a big win over the Ravens with a stinker against the Jets last week. They are too inconsistent for betting purposes. I’m putting my money on the Steelers. Pittsburgh is quietly 3-1 and playing good football.

10/8 1:00 ET Tennessee -2.5 At Miami 43.5: Matt Cassel is expected to start for the Titans which means I’m taking the Dolphins as a home dog in this one. How can anyone put their money on Tennessee after last week’s performance? Seriously. They were awful.

10/8 1:00 ET At Indianapolis -1.5 San Francisco 44.5: This will be an ugly game. Jacoby Brissett has stabilized the quarterback position for the Colts but until Andrew Luck comes back, Indy will continue to struggle offensively. I’m going to put my cash on the Niners in this game. They are an appealing road play. I think they get their first win of the season today.

10/8 1:00 ET At Philadelphia -6.5 Arizona 45: The Eagles are tough to beat at home. Add to that the Cardinals had to make the 2800 mile trip east and I am taking Philiadelphia with confidence in this one as a home favorite.

10/8 1:00 ET At Detroit -2.5 Carolina 43: The Panthers went into New England and won last week so you would think they could beat the Lions in Detroit right? WRONG! The Lions are good at home and they are playing with confidence right now. Detroit has quietly turned into  a contender in the NFC. I like putting the money on the Lions at home. I think they win by a field goal today.

10/8 4:05 ET At LA Rams -1.5 Seattle 47: The Rams beat Seattle at home last season and I think they beat them again this season. There is something magical about this Rams team. Head coach Sean McVay is wise beyond his years (He’s 31) and he has gotten the most out of this team. I think he gets even more out of them today. I like the Rams by a field goal.

10/8 4:05 ET At Oakland -3 Baltimore 39: E.J Manuel is starting for the Raiders. That’s all you need to know. I’m taking the Ravens as a road dog today. They’ll snap their two game losing streak.

10/8 4:25 ET At Dallas -2.5 Green Bay 52.5: Revenge game for the Cowboys. I think Dallas will get their revenge. Green Bay is a little banged up and they have run hot and cold this season offensively despite a 3-1 start. I fully expect another shootout between these two with the Cowboys winning by a field goal.

10/8 8:30 ET Kansas City -1 At Houston 46: I’m fully committed to the Chiefs as a weekly play. Home or away, they are a good bet. I like them tonight in a tough environment in Houston. They will have their hands full against the Texans defense but they will find a way to get it done.

Monday Night Football Line

10/9 8:30 ET Minnesota -2.5 At Chicago 40: Should I buy into the Mitchell Trubisky hype? Nah. He has no one to throw to other than rookie running back Tarik Cohen. I’m taking the Vikings as a road dog in this one.
