NFL: J.J Watt Is Right. The NFL’s Top 100 Show is a Joke

By John Sarianides

I don’t follow J.J Watt on twitter but he was re-tweeted thousands of times last night after calling the NFL Network’s Top 100 show “a joke” Watt was ranked as the 35th best player in the NFL for the 2016 season by his peers. He only played in three games last season.

While I understand his peers respect him, it is hard to justify Watt being in the top 100 considering he missed most of last season. It lends credence to the notion that the top 100 is nothing more than a popularity contest.

I watched the show the first two years it aired but I have lost interest. List shows in general have run their course with me. I really don’t care who ranks where. It doesn’t affect my life in any way and I don’t sit around compiling lists and arguing about them with my friends.

Watt is right. The NFL’s Top 100 show is a joke. When you rank players on reputation instead of production, that undermines the credibility of the list. We have seen this before with the Top 100 and that might be the reason why fans are no longer watching the show. Ratings are down big time and it is because of stuff like this.
