By John Sarianides
The 2017 NFL is officially in the books. Here are my team by team grades.
Arizona Cardinals
1 (13) Haason Reddick, OLB, Temple
2 (36) Budda Baker, SS, Washington
3 (98) Chad Williams, WR, Grambling State
4 (115) Dorian Johnson, OG, Pittsburgh
5 (157) Will Holden, OT, Vanderbilt
5 (179) T.J. Logan, RB, North Carolina
6 (208) Rudy Ford, FS, Auburn
Grade B: Haason Reddick and Budda Baker are versatile defensive players that will step in and make an immediate impact. Dorian Johnson and Will Holden add depth to an offensive line that sorely needs it. Johnson could start as a rookie I like the T.J Logan pick in the fifth round. It is a true value pick. Logan is versatile and could contribute as a rookie and take pressure off of David Johnson.
Atlanta Falcons
1 (26) Takkarist McKinley, DE/OLB, UCLA
3 (75) Duke Riley, ILB, LSU
4 (136) Sean Harlow, OG, Oregon State
5 (149) Damontae Kazee, CB, San Diego State
5 (156) Brian Hill, RB, Wyoming
5 (174) Eric Saubert, TE, Drake
Grade: B: Tak McKinley will give the Falcons a much needed second pass rusher to complement Vic Beasley. Duke Riley will challenge to start at SAM linebacker spot and is a good fit with DeVondre Campbell and Deion Jones. Keep an eye on cornerback Damontae Kazee. He will play in the nickel and dime packages as a rookie and make a difference. Hill and Saubert are terrific value picks in the fifth round.
Baltimore Ravens
1 (16) Marlon Humphrey, CB, Alabama
2 (47) Tyus Bowser, OLB, Houston
3 (74) Chris Wormley, DE, Michigan
3 (78) Tim Williams, OLB, Alabama
4 (122) Nico Siragusa, OG, San Diego State
5 (159) Jermaine Eluemunor, OG, Texas A&M
6 (186) Chuck Clark, SS, Virginia Tech
Grade: A: The Ravens had another productive draft. Ozzie Newsome has mastered the art of replenishing the roster through the draft. Newsome revamped the front seven and added a starting corner in Humphrey. Bowser, Wormley and Williams could become the nucleus of the Ravens front for the next five to seven years. Baltimore once again had a tremendous all around draft.
Buffalo Bills
1 (27) Tre’Davious White, CB, LSU
2 (37) Zay Jones, WR, East Carolina
2 (63) Dion Dawkins, OG, Temple
5 (163) Matt Milano, ILB, Boston College
5 (171) Nathan Peterman, QB, Pittsburgh
6 (195) Tanner Vallejo, OLB, Boise State
Grade: B: I like the Tre’Davious White and Zay Jones picks. Both fill immediate needs. Dion Dawkins could start at guard as a rookie. Milano was a wasted pick. He is a special teamer at best. Nate Peterman is a security blanket at quarterback. If Tyrod Taylor or Cardale Jones struggle, Peterman could potentially play but the ideal situation is to let him develop. I thought this was a good draft considering the fact the new coach Sean McDermott made all the picks.
Carolina Panthers
1 (8) Christian McCaffrey, RB, Stanford
2 (40) Curtis Samuel, WR/CB, Ohio State
2 (64) Taylor Moton, OG, Western Michigan
3 (77) Daeshon Hall, DE, Texas A&M
5 (152) Corn Elder, CB, Miami
6 (192) Alexander Armah, DE, West Georgia
7 (233) Harrison Butker, K, Georgia Tech
Grade: B-: Christian McCaffery and Curtis Samuel are both explosive but I’m not sure they fit the Panthers scheme offensively. McCaffery will be a three down weapon as a runner and receiver. It’ll be interesting to see how Mike Shula uses him. The rest of this draft addressed depth up front but the Panthers could have done better from an overall talent standpoint.
Chicago Bears
1 (2) Mitchell Trubisky, qb, North Carolina
2 (45) Adam Shaheen, TE, Ashland
4 (112) Eddie Jackson, FS, Alabama
4 (119) Tarik Cohen, RB, NC A&T
5 (147) Jordan Morgan, OG, Kutztown
Grade: D: The Bears overpaid to move up one spot to draft Trubisky and they reached for Shaheen in the second round. Jackson and Cohen salvaged what was a questionable draft. Overall, I don’t think GM Ryan Pace did enough to add to a roster that is a couple of pieces away from playoff contention.
Cincinnati Bengals
1 (9) John Ross, WR, Washington
2 (48) Joe Mixon, RB, Oklahoma
3 (73) Jordan Willis, DE, Kansas State
4 (116) Carl Lawson, DE, Auburn
4 (128) Josh Malone, WR, Tennessee
4 (138) Ryan Glasgow, DT, Michigan
5 (153) Jake Elliott, K, Memphis
5 (176) J.J. Dielman, OC, Utah
6 (193) Jordan Evans, ILB, Oklahoma
6 (207) Brandon Wilson, RB, Houston
7 (251) Mason Schreck, TE, Buffalo
Grade: B+: The Bengals had a lot of needs and they filled them in this draft. Ross was a reach at nine but you can’t deny the big play ability. Mixon is uber talented but he will face many questions moving forward. It will never be about his ability or his production as much as it will be about the video. Adding Willis and Lawson at defensive end gives an anemic pass rush some juice. This was a solid all around draft for Mike Brown and Marvin Lewis.
Cleveland Browns
1 (1) Myles Garrett, DE, Texas A&M
1 (25) Jabrill Peppers, SS, Michigan
1 (29) David Njoku, TE, Miami
2 (52) DeShone Kizer, QB, Notre Dame
3 (65) Larry Ogunjobi, DT, Charlotte
4 (126) Howard Wilson, CB, Houston
5 (160) Rod Johnson, OT, Florida State
6 (185) Caleb Brantley, DT, Florida
7 (224) Zane Gonzalez, K, Arizona State
7 (252) Matthew Dayes, RB, NC State
Grade: A-: I love this draft. GM Sashi Brown added three impact players in the first round in Garrett, Peppers and Njoku. He didn’t overpay to move up to add Trubisky and he took a flyer on Kizer in the second round. The Browns brought in quite a haul. They are going to turn it around moving forward. The days of 1-15 are over! Bold prediction I know.
Dallas Cowboys
1 (28) Taco Charlton, DE, Michigan
2 (60) Chidobe Awuzie, CB, Colorado
3 (92) Jourdan Lewis, CB, Michigan
4 (133) Ryan Switzer, WR, North Carolina
6 (191) Xavier Woods, FS, Louisiana Tech
6 (216) Marquez White, CB, Florida State
7 (228) Joey Ivie, DT, Florida
7 (239) Noah Brown, WR, Ohio State
7 (246) Jordan Carrell, DT, Colorado
Grade: B+: When are we going to start acknowledging that Jerry Jones is actually a pretty good general manager. He has drafted really well in recent years and this draft was no exception. I absolutely love the first five picks. All five players will make an impact in 2017. Solid draft overall draft.
Denver Broncos
1 (20) Garett Bolles, OT, Utah
2 (51) DeMarcus Walker, DE, Florida State
3 (82) Carlos Henderson, WR, Louisiana Tech
3 (101) Brendan Langley, CB, Lamar
5 (145) Jake Butt, TE, Michigan
5 (172) Isaiah McKenzie, WR, Georgia
6 (203) De’Angelo Henderson, RB, Coastal Carolina
7 (253) Chad Kelly, QB, Mississippi
Grade: B+: John Elway always does a great job filling his team’s needs and this draft was no exception. Bolles will step in and start at left tackle from day one. DeMarcus Walker gives Denver’s defensive line some much needed explosiveness. Jake Butt in the fifth round. Are kidding me? Steal! Terrific draft for the Broncos.
Detroit Lions
1 (21) Jarrad Davis, ILB, Florida
2 (53) Jalen Tabor, CB, Florida
3 (96) Kenny Golladay, WR, Northern Illinois
4 (124) Jaylen Reeves-Maybin, OLB, Tennessee
4 (127) Michael Roberts, TE, Toledo
5 (165) Jamal Agnew, CB, San Diego
6 (205) Jeremiah Ledbetter, DE, Arkansas
6 (215) Brad Kaaya, QB, Miami
7 (250) Pat O’Connor, DE, Eastern Michigan
Grade: B+: Lions GM Bob Quinn has a long term vision in terms of how he wants to build his roster and this draft is proof of that. Davis and Tabor will make an impact defensively as rookies. Golladay, Maybin and Roberts are all terrific value picks in the middle rounds that will make the roster and contribute as rookies. The Lions are back thanks to a roster that is balanced.
Green Bay Packers
2 (33) Kenny King, CB, Washington
2 (61) Josh Jones, SS, NC State
3 (93) Montravius Adams, DT, Auburn
4 (108) Vince Biegel, OLB, Wisconsin
4 (134) Jamaal Williams, RB, BYU
5 (175) Deangelo Yancey, WR, Purdue
5 (182) Aaron Jones, RB, UTEP
6 (212) Kofi Amichia, OT, South Florida
7 (238) Devonte Mays, RB, Utah State
7 (247) Malachi Dupre, WR, LSU
Grade: A-: I have been openly critical of Packers GM Ted Thompson in recent years but you know what, he had a pretty good draft this weekend. Thompson brilliantly traded out of the first round, picked up a couple of extra picks and focused on the three areas of need which were cornerback, running back and outside linebacker. The Packers got better in this draft.
Houston Texans
1 (12) Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson
2 (57) Zach Cunningham, OLB, Vanderbilt
3 (89) D’Onta Foreman, RB, Texas
4 (130) Julie’n Davenport, OT, Bucknell
4 (142) Carlos Watkins, DT, Clemson
5 (169) Treston Decoud, CB, Oregon State
7 (243) Kyle Fuller, OC, Baylor
Grade: C+: The Texans paid a heavy price to move up and acquire Deshaun Watson. Bill O’Brien is staking his career on Watson so he better develop him. Cunningham and Foreman are terrific picks who could pay dividends in 2017. Decent draft but we can’t fully judge it until Watson plays.
Indianapolis Colts
1 (15) Malik Hooker, FS, Ohio State
2 (46) Quincy Wilson, CB, Florida
3 (80) Tarell Basham, DE, Ohio
4 (137) Zach Banner, OT, Southern Cal
4 (143) Marlon Mack, RB, South Florida
4 (144) Grover Stewart, DT, Albany (Ga.)
5 (158) Nate Hairston, CB, Temple
5 (161) Anthony Walker, OLB, Northwestern
Grade: A: New Colts GM Chris Ballard should seriously consider running for Mayor of Indianapolis. He might win right now. Ballard has gotten off to a strong start as general manager of the Colts. Hooker and Wilson are day one starters who will make an immediate impact. Basham and Banner could eventually start in the next two years but both players should contribute as rookies, especially Basham. Marlon Mack will split carries with Frank Gore. He is the ideal complement. A terrific all around draft.
Jacksonville Jaguars
1 (4) Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU
2 (34) Cam Robinson, OT, Alabama
3 (68) Dawuane Smoot, DE, Illinois
4 (110) Dede Westbrook, WR, Oklahoma
5 (148) Blair Brown, ILB, Ohio
7 (222) Jalen Myrick, CB, Minnesota
7 (240) Marquez Williams, FB, Miami
Grade: B: Fournette is the key to this draft. If he plays like he did most of his career at LSU, he will give the Jags the physical presence they have lacked offensively and take pressure off of Blake Bortles. Robinson is talented but fundamentally lazy. Despite that, he is a great value in the second round. Smoot runs hot and cold. He is talented but inconsistent. Tom Coughlin and Doug Marrone will need to do some damage control on the Westbrook pick. Steal alert! Jalen Myrick is one of the most athletes in this draft. He’ll play right away.
Kansas City Chiefs
1 (10) Patrick Mahomes, QB, Texas Tech
2 (59) Tanoh Kpassagnon, DE, Villanova
3 (86) Kareem Hunt, RB, Toledo
4 (139) Jehu Chesson, WR, Michigan
5 (183) Ukeme Eligwe, OLB, Georgia Southern
6 (218) Leon McQuay III, FS, Southern Cal
Grade: B-: This draft is all about Mahomes. If he develops into what Andy Reid thinks he could be, then draft will be a great draft for Kansas City. Kpassagnon has a lot of ability and one of the best bodies in this draft. He needs to figure it out. Hunt and Chesson are both guys that could play right away and contribute. A good draft that will hinge on Mahomes and whether or not he develops.
Los Angeles Chargers
1 (7) Mike Williams, WR, Clemson
2 (38) Forrest Lamp, OG, Western Kentucky
3 (71) Dan Feeney, OG, Indiana
4 (113) Rayshawn Jenkins, FS, Miami
5 (151) Desmond King, CB, Iowa
6 (190) Sam Tevi, OT, Utah
7 (225) Isaac Rochell, DE, Notre Dame
Grade: A: I love this draft! Williams is a potential number one receiver and he will take pressure off of Keenan Allen and Antonio Gates. The Chargers were somehow able to grab the top two guards in this draft in Lamp and Feeney. They will be the centerpieces to a revamped offensive line. Desmond King in the fifth round? Are you kidding me? That’s a steal. He will play in sub packages right away. GM Tom Telesco and new coach Anthony Lynn acquitted themselves well in this draft.
Los Angeles Rams
2 (44) Gerald Everett, TE, South Alabama
3 (69) Cooper Kupp, WR, Eastern Washington
3 (91) John Johnson, FS, Boston College
4 (117) Josh Reynolds, WR, Texas A&M
4 (125) Samson Ebukan, OLB, Eastern Washington
6 (189) Tanzel Smart, DT, Tulane
6 (206) Sam Rogers, FB, Virginia Tech
7 (234) Ejuan Price, ILB, Pittsburgh
Grade: B: I thought the Rams did well in this draft to upgrade their receiving group and the tight end position. Based on the players that were drafted, the Rams are going to focus on getting the ball out of Jared Goff’s hand quick. My only criticism of this draft is that they didn’t address the secondary or the offensive line. Two areas that need improvement.
Miami Dolphins
1 (22) Charles Harris, DE, Missouri
2 (54) Raekwon McMillan, ILB, Ohio State
3 (97) Cordrea Tankersley, CB, Clemson
5 (164) Isaac Ariata, OG, Utah
5 (178) Davon Godchaux, DT, LSU
6 (194) Vincent Taylor, DT, Oklahoma State
7 (237) Isaiah Ford, WR, Virginia Tech
Grade: B: I thought the Dolphins had a productive draft. The focus was on improving the front seven and Miami did that for the most part. Harris is undersized but he is a power to speed pass rusher who will complement Cam Wake well. I like McMillan. He has coverage limitations but he is a thumper against the run. Godchaux and Taylor give the Dolphins some much needed depth along the defensive line. Again, a productive draft but the secondary should have been emphasized more.
Minnesota Vikings
2 (41) Dalvin Cook, RB, Florida State
3 (70) Pat Elflein, OC, Ohio State
4 (109) Jaleel Johnson, DE, Iowa
4 (120) Ben Gedeon, ILB, Michigan
5 (170) Rodney Adams, WR, South Florida
5 (180) Danny Isidora, OG, Miami
6 (201) Bucky Hodges, TE, Virginia Tech
7 (219) Stacy Coley, WR, Miami
7 (220) Ifeadi Odenigbo, DE, Northwestern
7 (232) Elijah Lee, OLB, Kansas State
7 (245) Jack Tocho, CB, NC State
Grade: B+: The Vikings did well considering they didn’t have a first round pick. This draft class will be defined by Dalvin Cook. If Cook plays up to his ability, the Vikings will have gotten themselves an elite talent at a discount price. There are several intriguing prospects in this class. Elflein will start at center from day one. I like both Stacey Coley and Bucky Hodges. They give the Vikings skill group some size and athleticism. GM Rick Spielman did well to replenish the roster.
New England Patriots
3 (83) Derek Rivers, DE, Youngstown State
3 (85) Antonio Garcia, OT, Troy
4 (131) Deatrich Wise, DE, Arkansas
6 (211) Conor McDermott, OT, UCLA
Grade: B+: The Patriots did well considering they only made four picks. Rivers is the prototypical Patriots player in that he is a hybrid. He can play outside linebacker on run down and rush the passer on passing downs. Antonio Garcia was one of my favorite players in this draft. He is nasty and athletic. A rare combination these days. Wise has length at 6-5 274 but isn’t overly explosive. He reminds me more of Kony Ealy than he does Chandler Jones. Conor McDermott is a former basketball player that needs fundamental work. Plays tall and soft at times. Not a good combo. If you factor all of the players the Patriots acquired with their draft picks, they would have had the best draft of any team.
New Orleans Saints
1 (11) Marshon Lattimore, CB, Ohio State
1 (32) Ryan Ramczyk, OT, Wisconsin
2 (42) Marcus Williams, FS, Utah
3 (67) Alvin Kamara, RB, Tennessee
3 (76) Alex Anzalone, ILB, Florida
3 (103) Trey Hendrickson, DE, FAU
6 (196) Al-Quadin Muhammad, DE, Miami
Grade: B+: The Saints needed to upgrade the talent on the defensive side of the ball in this draft and they did. Lattimore has limited starting experience and is prone to injuries but there is no denying the upside. He could develop into an elite player at his position. Ramcyzk to me is a guard but he will start at tackle. Williams is a good all around player who supports the run and good coverage skills over the top. The pick of Kamara is a little bizarre considering they signed Adrian Peterson last week. Anzalone and Hendricksen could be steals if given playing time right away. Both are talented, especially Hendricksen.
New York Giants
1 (23) Evan Engram, TE, Mississippi
2 (55) Dalvin Tomlinson, DT, Alabama
3 (87) Davis Webb, QB, California
4 (140) Wayne Gallman, RB, Clemson
5 (167) Avery Moss, DE, Youngstown State
6 (200) Adam Bisnowaty, OT, Pittsburgh
Grade: B: The Giants identify needs and fill them. That is how GM Jerry Reese operates. Engram at 23 was a reach in my opinion. I don’t get why they took Engram over an offensive lineman? Tomlinson will replace Johnathan Hankins inside at defensive tackle. Is Davis Webb really going to sit three years? Peculiar pick. Wayne Gallman could be a steal if he is more consistent and protects the ball. He will be a nice change of pace to Paul Perkins. Good draft but I am not sure the Giants addressed their most pressing needs.
New York Jets
1 (6) Jamal Adams, FS, LSU
2 (39) Marcus Maye, SS, Florida
3 (79) ArDarius Stewart, WR, Alabama
4 (141) Chad Hansen, WR, California
5 (150) Jordan Leggett, TE, Clemson
5 (181) Dylan Donahue, DE, West Georgia
6 (188) Elijah McGuire, RB, Louisiana-Lafayette
6 (197) Jeremy Clark, CB, Michigan
6 (204) Derrick Jones, CB, Mississippi
Grade: C-: I am not exactly sure what the Jets did in this draft? I love the Adams pick in the first round. He is Eric Berry 2.0. Why come back with Marcus Maye in the second round though? Weird. ArDarius Stewart in the 3rd round? No thanks. I do like the Jordan Leggett pick if he can learn to play in-line but other than Adams, this draft left a lot to be desired.
Oakland Raiders
1 (24) Gareon Conley, CB, Ohio State
2 (56) Obi Melifonwu, FS, UConn
3 (88) Eddie Vanderdoes, DT, UCLA
4 (129) David Sharpe, OT, Florida
5 (168) Marquel Lee, ILB, Wake Forest
7 (221) Shalom Luani, FS, Washington State
7 (231) Jylan Ware, OT, Alabama State
7 (242) Elijah Hood, RB, North Carolina
7 (244) Treyvon Hester, DT, Toledo
Grade: B-: I like the first two picks of Conley and Melifonwu. They solidify an immediate need for the Raiders. Oakland’s secondary was atrocious last season. The rest of this draft is meh for me. Sharpe is slow and might be better off at guard. Vanderdoes is a rotation tackle at best. The rest of this draft is littered with players that may or may not stick.
Philadelphia Eagles
1 (14) Derek Barnett, DE, Tennessee
2 (43) Sidney Jones, CB, Washington
3 (99) Rasul Douglas, CB, West Virginia
4 (118) Mack Hollins, WR, North Carolina
4 (132) Donnel Pumphrey, RB, San Diego State
5 (166) Shelton Gibson, WR, West Virginia
5 (184) Nate Gerry, SS, Nebraska
6 (214) Elijah Qualls, DT, Washington
Grade: B: The Eagles had a solid over all around draft. They empahsized defensive end and cornerback, two positions they needed to upgrade. Barnett is one of my favorite players in this draft. He will step and start at the tilt five technique defensive end spot. The gamble on Jones will pay off in the second round. He will play this season. Had he not blown out his Achilles tendon, he would have been a top fifteen pick. Douglas and Hollins are big and both could contribute as rookies. Donnell Pumphrey is Darren Sproles 2.0.
Pittsburgh Steelers
1 (30) T.J. Watt, OLB, Wisconsin
2 (62) JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR, Southern Cal
3 (94) Cameron Sutton, CB, Tennesee
3 (105) James Conner, RB, Pittsburgh
4 (135) Joshua Dobbs, QB, Tennessee
5 (173) Brian Allen, CB, Utah
6 (213) Colin Holba, LS, Louisville
7 (248) Keion Adams, DE, Western Michigan
Grade: A: The Pittsburgh Steelers just know how to draft, period! GM Kevin Colbert does a phenomenal job of identifying talent that fits and picking it. T.J Watt will add some juice to a pass rush that needs desperately needs it. Smith-Schuster gives the Steelers that young third receiver with size that can play in the slot. Sutton was a very underrated corner at Tennessee. He should play in sub packages and return kicks. I love the James Connor pick. He gives the Steelers a big back who can complement LeVeon bell. I am not sure Josh Dobbs is the heir apparent to Big Ben but we’ll see.
San Francisco 49ers
1 (3) Solomon Thomas, DE, Stanford
1 (31) Reuben Foster, ILB, UCLA
3 (66) Ahkello Witherspoon, CB, Colorado
3 (104) C.J. Beathard, QB, Iowa
4 (121) Joe Williams, RB, Utah
5 (146) George Kittle, TE, Iowa
5 (177) Trent Taylor, WR, Louisiana Tech
6 (198) D.J. Jones, DT, Mississippi
6 (202) Pita Taumoepenu, DE, Utah
7 (229) Adrian Colbert, FS, Miami.
Grade: A-: John Lynch had a terrific first draft as GM of the 49ers. He started the first round off by fleecing the Bears in a trade and then landing the 49ers top two players on their defensive board in Solomon Thomas and Reuben Foster. Lynch did well in the middle rounds as well adding quality depth to the roster in Witherspoon, Beathard, Williams and Kittle. All in all, Lynch proved that he was the right hire by Jed York.
Seattle Seahawks
2 (35) Malik McDowell, DT, Michigan State
2 (58) Ethan Pocic, OC, LSU
3 (90) Shaquill Griffin, CB, UCF
3 (95) Delano Hill, SS, Michigan
3 (102) Nazir Jones, DT, North Carolina
3 (106) Amara Darboh, WR, Michigan
4 (111) Tedric Thompson, FS, Colorado
6 (187) Mike Tyson, SS, Cincinnati
6 (210) Justin Senior, OT, Mississippi State
7 (226) David Moore, WR, East Central
7 (249) Christopher Carson, RB, Oklahoma State
Grade: A- : The Seahawks focused on rebuilding their offensive and defensive lines in this draft. They did well. Malik McDowell could not have ended up in a better situation than Seattle. Pete Carroll and his staff will get the most out of him. Seattle. Meet your new starting center, Ethan Pocic! Griffin and Darboh are solid mid-round picks and both players will make an impact as rookies. GM John Schneider is one of the best in the business and he proved it again this weekend.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
1 (19) O.J. Howard, TE, Alabama
2 (50) Justin Evans, FS, Texas A&M
3 (84) Chris Godwin, WR, Penn State
3 (107) Kendell Beckwith, ILB, LSU
5 (162) Jeremy McNichols, RB, Boise State
7 (223) Stevie Tu’ikolovatu, DT Southern Cal
Grade: B+: GM Jason Licht and his staff had a solid draft that should position the Bucs to take the next step and contend in the NFC. Tampa lucked out with O.J Howard. He fell in their lap! He is a tremendous pick and he complements Mike Evans and DeSean Jackson well. Godwin is a big possession receiver who can play in the slot or split outside. The Bucs took Jeremy McNichols as insurance in case things don’t work out with Doug Martin.
Tennessee Titans
1 (5) Corey Davis, WR, Western Michigan
1 (18) Adoree’ Jackson, CB, Southern Cal
3 (72) Taywan Taylor, WR, Western Kentucky
3 (100) Jonnu Smith, TE, FIU
5 (155) Jayon Brown, OLB, UCLA
6 (217) Corey Levin, OG, Chattanooga
7 (227) Josh Carraway, ILB, TCU
7 (236) Brad Seaton, OT, Villanova
7 (241) Khalfani Muhammad, RB, California
Grade: B- : I thought the Titans reached a little for both Corey Davis and Adoree Jackson. I am O.K with Davis but if they liked Jackson that much, they should have traded down. Taywan Taylor has the potential to develop into a big play threat and a nice complement to Davis. Tight end Jonnu Smith is undersized but could be a weapon in the red zone. Tennessee definitely got better but they do enough to make themselves a playoff contender? Time will tell.
Washington Redskins
1 (17) Jonathan Allen, DE, Alabama
2 (49) Ryan Anderson, OLB, Alabama
3 (81) Fabian Moreau, CB, UCLA
4 (114) Samaje Perine, RB, Oklahoma
4 (123) Montae Nicholson, FS, Michigan State
5 (154) Jeremy Sprinkle, TE, Arkansas
6 (199) Chase Roullier, OC, Wyoming
6 (209) Robert Davis, WR, Georgia Southern
7 (230) Josh Harvey-Clemons, FS, Louisville
7 (235) Josh Holsey, CB, Auburn
Grade: A- : I am assuming football czar Bruce Allen made the picks because I have no clue who else would have? The Redskins had a terrific draft. Just like the Bucs, Jonathan Allen fell to them at 17. What a steal! They followed that up with a solid pick in round 2 in Ryan Anderson. Anderson will start out as a situational pass rusher but he could eventually start. Fabian Moreau will be a starting corner when he is healthy. The Skins got tremendous value in the fifth and sixth rounds in Jeremy Sprinkle, Chase Roullier and Robert Davis. The Redskins missed the playoffs last season but a draft like this could make them a playoff team again.
