Aaron Rodgers will haunt the Cowboys and their fans for a long time.
Here are ten thoughts from an up and down divisional weekend in the NFL.
By John Sarianides
1. The Seahawks are a shell of the team they were two years ago. They don’t have the aura of invincibility that they had in 2013 and 2014. It might be time Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider shook up the roster.
2. I took the Falcons for granted. They are legit and are more than capable of winning a Super Bowl. You don’t smack around the Seahawks 36-20 if you are not a legit contender.
3. The Patriots slept through the first half in a subpar performance against the Texans on Saturday night. If the Patriots play like that against Pittsburgh next week, they’ll lose.
4. Texans coach Bill O’Brien will have a busy off-season trying to figure out how to make the Texans a contender. A couple of coaching changes and giving Tom Savage a shot at the starting job ought to be a good starting point for next season.
5. Aaron Rodgers is a STUD! PERIOD! He has single handily put the Packers on his shoulders and carried them into the NFC Championship game. The throw he made to Jared Cook to set up the game winning field goal is one of the best throws I have ever seen. It was insane!
6. Cowboys fans should be proud of the season their team had. Let’s be honest, they overachieved. Finishing 13-4 with a rookie quarterback and rookie running back is a major achievement. The future is bright in Big D.
7. The Steelers were putrid on offense last night but thanks to a defense that has steadily improved over the course of the past eight weeks, they have advanced to the AFC Championship game.
The Steelers are more than good enough to go into Foxborough and beat the Patriots, but they will need to play much better on offense.
8. The Kansas City Chiefs will never contend for a Super Bowl as long as Alex Smith is their quarterback. He is good enough to get them to the playoffs but he is not good enough to get them to a Super Bowl.
9. Vince Wilfork should retire. He’s won two Super Bowls with the Patriots and he’s had a great career. I think he is a future hall of famer. Wilfork has nothing left to accomplish. It is time to move on.
10. Josh McDaniels made the right decision passing on the 49ers job. Family aside, It was not the right job for him. There will be better opportunities for him after next season.
