New England D1 poll – Week 8

Our eighth D1 New England poll of the year is here.

The stretch run is in full swing and playoff pushes are ramping up. Here’s how we see things shaking out heading into the final weekend of October…

1. Harvard (6-0) – The now Top-15 ranked Crimson continued rolling with a dominant win over Princeton.

2. Boston College (4-3) – The Eagles have won two straight after running for 399 yards against Georgia Tech.

3. UConn (4-3) – The Huskies embarrassed UMass on Friday night in front of a nationally televised audience.

4. UMass (4-4) – It’s panic time for Minuteman fans as UMass has dropped four straight.

5. CCSU (4-3) – That’s four straight wins for the Blue Devils after hammering New Haven.

6. Rhode Island (4-4) – The Rams were blown out by Albany and have seemingly had their playoff chances dashed this season.

7. Bryant (5-3) – Bulldogs fell to Stony Brook at home in a disappointing performance for their first CAA loss.

8. Brown (3-3) – Wild win for the Bears over Cornell that took overtime. Brown hanging around in the Ivy League.

9. Yale (3-3) – Tough three-point loss to Penn on Friday night as a game-tying field goal at the buzzer was no good.

10. Sacred Heart (3-4) – Pioneers had a bye week, play on the road against Stony Brook this week.

11. Dartmouth (3-3) – Emphatic win over Columbia to stay in the Ivy race. Huge game against Harvard for a share of first place this Friday night.

12. Holy Cross (3-5) – Crusaders blew out Bucknell and actually have an outside shot at a share of the Patriot League title if they can beat Richmond this weekend.

13. Merrimack (3-5) – Another impressive performance from a Mike Gennetti-led team, beating UNH.

14. Stonehill (3-5) – Skyhawks stayed alive in the rocky NEC race with a last-second win over LIU.

15. New Haven (2-6) – Chargers dropped one to in-state rival CCSU.

16. UNH (2-7) – The rough season continues for the Wildcats with the loss to Merrimack.

17. Maine (1-7) – Seven straight losses for the Black Bears in what’s been a very disheartening season for the fan base and alums.
