CHESTNUT HILL- Boston College Football and General Manager Kenyatta Watson have mutually agreed to part ways, marking a sudden end to his brief tenure overseeing personnel operations in Chestnut Hill.
Watson, a former wide receiver and punt returner for the Eagles in the mid-1990s, returned to his alma mater in late 2025 to take charge of roster construction under head coach Bill O’Brien. Bringing SEC-level recruiting pedigree from his previous stint as assistant general manager at Auburn, Watson was tasked with modernizing Boston College’s talent acquisition strategies in the evolving era of transfer portal management and NIL arrangements.
During his short time in the front office, Watson made an immediate mark on the program’s future talent pipeline. He was instrumental in navigating a aggressive portal strategy, helping bring in nearly 30 transfer additions to overhaul a depleted roster, while simultaneously laying groundwork for future recruiting classes. His ties to high school football hotspots, particularly in Georgia, proved influential in expanding BC’s recruiting footprint.
While neither party has publicly detailed the exact reasons behind the mid-season split, the departure creates an unexpected personnel vacancy in the middle of the fall schedule. As Coach O’Brien and the football program move forward, Boston College will need to quickly recalibrate its player personnel department to maintain momentum in scouting, recruiting commitments, and roster planning ahead of the upcoming transfer portal cycles.
