FOXBOROUGH – For the second straight day, Patriots and Eagles fans jammed the bleachers, hillsides and overflow ramps outside Gillette Stadium on Thursday morning.
Day 2 of joint practices was far more physical and had a few more skirmishes, but overall, both teams certainly got productive reps out of both sessions.
Even Kenny Chesney came out to take a look at what all the hype was about.
Focusing more on the offense once again (tough to watch two fields), here’s what I saw over the hot, sticky two-hours in Foxborough…
2-v-2’s
Took videos of 1-on-1’s so didn’t chart them this time around, but two-on-two route concepts down inside the 15 followed, here’s what we got…
Drake Maye: Back left corner to Brown for a TD (dime…Boutte also part of the play), incompletion to Pop Douglas, slant TD to Mack Hollins vs. Kelee Ringo, incompletion to Efton Chism III, Brown wide open on a quick out, (missed the next snap), incompletion along the back line for Tejhaun Palmer.
Tommy DeVito: Back left corner TD to Boutte, slant to Doubs (missed a couple others getting situated on the hill).
Maye: Slant to Brown vs. Mitchell, slant to Doubs vs. Riq Woolen.
Team period
Maye: Incomplete deep for Brown (DPI called), Rhamondre Stevenson stuffed, hard run for Stevenson (1st mini scrum of the day ensues)…quick out to Douglas.
DeVito: Sack for Philly’s Arnold Ebiketie, short run for Hassan Haskins, toss to Lan Larison stuffed, incompletion on a wheel to TreVeyon Henderson.
Maye: Comeback to Brown, Stevenson stuffed (and he fumbles), Stevenson stuffed again, quick pass to Stevenson.
DeVito: Incompletion (batted ball at the LOS), PBU for Philly’s Ambry Thomas against Chism III in the end zone, incompletion to one of the backs on a wheel (couldn’t see who).
Maye: Play action TD to Mack Hollins on a crosser, offside Philly, PBU for Philly at the goal line on a ball for Pop, back left corner TD to Brown and he fires up the crowd after.
DeVito: Hard run for JaMycal Hasty, TD run for Haskins, throw away (DPI called), incompletion on a bullet through the back of the end zone.
Maye: (Missed the first snap watching a scrum on the defensive side of the field, Barmore in the middle of it)…Maye hit as he throws for an incompletion, sick Romeo Doubs jump ball TD in the back right corner vs. Woolen, would-be pick six for Woolen at the goal line.
DeVito: Incompletion looking for Williams, TD run for DeVito called back (hold I believe), TD pass to Chism III.
-It’s also worth noting that Marcus Jones had two picks against Jalen Hurts on the defensive field. It appeared (whenever I looked up at least) that the run defense was a bit better than it was on Wednesday too.

Maye: Run Stevenson, quick pass to Stevenson, completion over the middle to Doubs, sack, Stevenson stuffed on a run, incompletion deep to Boutte, short pass to Williams.
DeVito: Slant to Hollins, nice run by Haskins, (missed the next snap)…completion on the left sideline to Boutte, incompletion looking for Nick DeGennaro, crosser to Boutte on a rollout, deep-ish completion to Williams on the left sideline.

Both teams were on the same field for this one, so I charted Jalen Hurts’ one drive as well…

Maye: Slant to Brown, but it’s ripped out of his hands, goes high in the air and is picked off by Calyx Hunt.
Hurts: Slant over the middle, sideline completion, Makai Lemon TD (but called out of bounds in the back left corner), DeVonta Smith TD grab on a slant, Philly holds Corey Duren do negate another TD.
DeVito: PBU on a ball to Boutte in the end zone, swing to Lan Larison, TD to Boutte with 12 seconds left, DPI called on a two-point attempt.

Training camp is now over. Following the preseason game against Philly on Saturday night, the Patriots have two more practices (Monday and Tuesday) before traveling to Cleveland for the final preseason game next Thursday night.
