The Patriots are ensuring continuity in their passing game by signing veteran tight end Hunter Henry to a two-year contract extension worth $16 million base, maxing out at $20 million with incentives.

The new deal includes $14.5 million in guaranteed money and a $4.2 million signing bonus, effectively ensuring the 31-year-old standout will likely finish his NFL career in Foxborough. 

Henry has steadily emerged as one of New England’s most reliable playmakers and a critical safety valve for young franchise quarterback Drake Maye.

Coming off a strong 2025 campaign where he pulled in 60 receptions for a career-high 768 yards and seven touchdowns, Henry’s veteran presence in the locker room and seamless chemistry on the field made securing his future a clear priority for the front office. 

Since joining the Patriots in 2021 after five seasons with the Chargers, Henry has proven to be a dependable weapon in both intermediate passing lanes and red-zone situations.

By locking down their top tight end ahead of the 2026 season, New England maintains a proven receiving threat while providing crucial stability for Maye’s continued growth at the helm of the offense. Henry will also provide some much needed mentorship for rookie tight end Eli Rairdon who has terrific upside.
