FOXBOROUGH – The biggest crowd of the summer got an entertaining scrimmage on Friday as the team wrapped up the second week of training camp.

Before practice, Mike Vrabel announced that there was a team-wide draft for the coaches, splitting squads up into Team Blue and Team White. Terrell Williams was the ‘head coach’ of Team Blue, while Tony Dews coached Team White.

Here’s a drive-by-drive breakdown of how things played out. ‘Kickoff’ was about 10:30 and Day 12 finished at 11:35 with the weather playing a factor.

Team Blue 1st drive

Tommy DeVito: Hand off to Rhamondre Stevenson, would-be sack by Gabe Jacas (completion to Pop), PBU by  Kindle Vildor vs. AJ Brown, completion to Mack Hollins, would-be ask for Jacas, Andy Borregales misses a 45-ish yard field goal wide left.

Team White 1st drive

Drake Maye: Run stuff by Chad Muma vs. TreVeyon Henderson, comeback to Kayshon Boutte, first down run for Henderson, incompletion to Eli Raridon, throw away, pressure by Elijah Ponder forces an incompletion (looked close to a fumble).

Team Blue 2nd drive (coming out of their own end)

DeVito: Rollout right and completion to Brown, run stuff, run stuff by Christian Ellis vs. Terrell Jennings, sack by Leonard Taylor III, (missed the next snap), offside, first down run by Jennings, run stuff by Joshua Farmer in the backfield, slant to Brown (dart), outside run (I believe Jennings), quick little pass to Pop and he makes a cut to leave Kobee Minor’s ankles broken, completion to Hunter Henry, short run by Stevenson, slant TD to Pop (five-yards), PAT good.

Team White 2nd drive

Maye: Out to Romeo Doubs (false start negates it though), short run Henderson, incomplete on an out to Kyle Williams, incompletion on a throw away.

Team Blue 3rd drive

Behren Morton: Hand off (Lan Larison I believe), incompletion under pressure, wild long catch and run for Myles Montgomery after it was off the hands of another receiver, almost looking like a hook-and-ladder with the odd deflection…he was ‘tackled’ down at the 10-yard line, Brandon Crossley PBU, short completion to Hollins, short completion on a slant (missed who had it), 40ish-yard field goal for Borregales.

Team White 3rd drive

Maye: Handoff to Larison, completion up the seam to Raridon, run stuff against Larison, incompletion well behind intended receiver, slant to Boutte, crosser to Nick DeGenarro, incompletion on a rollout, touchdown to Doubs in the back left corner (10ish-yards). PAT no good. This was by far the worst day Borrwgales has had so far in camp. Better now than in September.

Team Blue 4th drive 

DeVito: (I missed the first snap), short run by Stevenson, little creativity leads to a big catch and run for Mack Hollins, back-to-back run stuffs for the defense, PBU on a slant by Channing Canada vs. Hollins, Borregales hits a 35ish-yard field goal.

Team White 4th drive

Morton: Completion to Mitch Van Vooren, great cut and run by Larison, fumbled snap, combo sack by Bradyn Swinson and Xavier Holmes, offside, Kahlil Jacobs drops an INT.

Team Blue (Red Zone)

DeVito: Sack (I believe from Milton Williams), completion to Pop, TD to Pop.

Team White (Red Zone)

Maye: TD to Henderson in the back left corner.

Situational work (1:05 on the clock)

DeVito: Dime deep downfield (50ish-yards) to Pop, slant to Efton Chism III, clock, 38-yard field goal from Borregales.

Maye: Incompletion (turfed looking for Larison on a screen), out to Raridon (X2), out to Doubs, post to Williams, Holmes bats ball down at line of scrimmage, Borregales field goal from 50+.

UP NEXT

The Patriots are now off for the weekend until returning to practice on Monday. That practice will be closed to the public. Tuesday’s joint practice against the Colts (10:15-12:15) is open before the first preseason game on Thursday night.
