The New England Patriots have officially locked in the final piece of their 2026 draft class, agreeing to terms with second-round edge rusher Gabe Jacas on a four-year, $8.6 million rookie contract.

The signing brings a resolution to the team’s remaining offseason business just as training camp gets underway today, ensuring their top defensive addition is ready to hit the practice field without further delay.

The Patriots traded up to select Jacas at 55th overall in April’s draft. The former Illinois standout established himself as one of the most impactful pass rushers in college football, wrapping up his collegiate career with 27 sacks and earning All-American honors. Standing 6-foot-4 and 261 pounds, Jacas brings a rare combination of pure power, leverage from his championship wrestling background, and high-motor edge pursuit.

Getting Jacas signed and into camp is a huge sigh of relief for Mike Vrabel and his defensive staff. Front-seven depth and consistent edge pressure were primary areas of concern heading into the draft.

With his contract finalized, Jacas will immediately push for significant snaps in the defensive rotation, giving the Patriots a powerful disruptive force opposite their veteran pass rushers.
