Xaverian’s Harden Jr. commits to Boston College

Boston College football continues its strong spring in recruiting by securing a commitment from Xaverian linebacker and athlete Michael Harden Jr.

Harden, a core piece of the 2027 recruiting class, announced his decision via social media shortly after an impactful official visit to Chestnut Hill and a strong camp performance earlier in the month.

“I am very grateful to announce my commitment to Boston College,” Harden shared in his statement. “Thank you to all the coaches, family, and people who helped and supported me throughout this journey. I am excited for what is in store.”

Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 215 pounds, Harden brings an explosive physical profile to the Eagles’ defensive projections. During a summer camp circuit that included an eye-catching performance at Penn State—where he clocked a nearly 32-foot triple broad jump—he solidified his reputation as a fluid, highly coachable athlete who can fly sideline to sideline.

Harden’s versatility allows him to drop into coverage just as easily as he rushes the passer, making him a perfect fit for modern, speed-oriented collegiate defenses. Notably, football instincts and athletic dedication run deep in his household; Harden is the stepson of Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla.

Harden’s choice to stay in Massachusetts reflects the strong cultural pull being established by the Eagles’ coaching staff and first-year general manager Kenyatta Watson.

“I love the culture they have at BC and the people around seem genuine in what they say,” Harden told Eagle Insider following his commitment.

With Harden’s commitment, Boston College continues an aggressive recruiting tear for the class of 2027. He marks the 26th overall commitment for the cycle, the fourth in-state prospect to stay home, and the fourth linebacker to join the class alongside Blaize Battaglia, Will Mettee, and Mamadee Sangaray.

Harden’s commitment pushes BC’s 2027 recruiting class into the top 40 nationally and 11th in the ACC.
