DURHAM, NH- The University of New Hampshire football program marked the end of spring ball with the annual Blue-White Scrimmage.

This year’s game marked the first spring game under the leadership of head coach Sean Goldrich, who guided the Wildcats through a series of scripted, four-quarter game simulations designed to test the roster in high-pressure situations rather than following a standard game format.

Before the game started on the field, the four captains who will lead the team throughout the 2026 season were announced. Tight end Colby Ramshaw of Londonderry, N.H., returns for his for a second consecutive year, joined by fellow seniors Beau Riley on the offensive line and Jackson Stone in the secondary. Redshirt sophomore linebacker Trevor Barry rounds out the leadership group, representing a young but impactful presence on the defensive side of the ball.

The quarterback competition appears to be wide open. Former King Philip standout Tommy McLeish had a big day completing 9-of-12 passes for 126 yards and a touchdown.

Brooks Bentley completed 6-of-11 passes for 49 yards and a touchdown, Bentley is the presumptive starter going into fall camp but McLeish will push him.

The scrimmage also provided a clear look at the Wildcats’ depth in the backfield, specifically highlighting the efforts of Myles Thomason and Drew Laplante. Thomason, a senior from Montclair, N.J., proved to be the most productive back in the rotation, averaging nearly five yards per carry on his way to 44 total rushing yards. Laplante also saw significant action, grinding out 23 yards on eight carries to help stabilize the offense during the simulation.

Skill wise, the Wildcats return plenty of experience and production in the wide receiver and tight end room and it showed.

The key is going to be the offensive line. Can they replace Tolu Olajide who transferred out this off-season.

The defense won the scrimmage and once again, this unit will be paced by the back seven. Replacing DJ Johnson’s production up front will be key. Johnson transferred to Wake Forest after the season. The pass rush will have to come from somewhere else.

It was a good first spring for Goldrich and the new staff. Now they will look to carry the momentum over into summer workouts and fall camp.
