Pats officially begin Super Bowl prep

FOXBOROUGH – We’re onto Santa Clara.

The Patriots officially began their prep for Super Bowl LX inside the Win Waste Innovations Field House on Thursday afternoon, with one final practice in Foxborough set for Friday before the team heads out to California Sunday.

Before they depart, there will be a rally at 9:30 a.m. inside Gillette Stadium. The Pats are scheduled to arrive in Santa Clara around 3:30 p.m. out there.

On Thursday, Mike Vrabel spoke with the media during what would have been his usual Wednesday slot, reiterating that the main objective until heading out West is keeping everything as normal as possible, while also making sure guys and their families enjoy this (potentially) once-in-a-lifetime experience.

“We’ve gotten most of that finished,” said when asked specifically about guys taking care of ticket requests and other family reservations. “I think that the staff has done a fantastic job to help facilitate all that and those needs. And again, we want our players and our families that are important to us to enjoy this process. We have a responsibility to prepare for the game and for this opportunity.

“So again, our staff has done a fantastic job. I’m confident that they’ll help our players if things come up throughout the week.”

Vrabel also talked about whether or not there’s any experiences as a player here going to multiple Super Bowls that he can now apply as a coach.

“Just trying to remain focused on each day and not look too far ahead is something that we’ve tried to focus on, just getting started today,” he added. “Trying to break the days up, and how much they are working and when they’re off. The time that they’re going to have, but also focused on trying to keep the normal schedule as close to possible as we can make it.”

All year long, one of the main reasons the Pats have been so successful is their ability to focus on the micro and not the macro. Now, more than ever, that ability may determine whether or not the Pats bring home a seventh Lombardi Trophy or not.
