UConn Four Down Preview: Florida Atlantic Owls (1-2) at UConn Huskies (1-2)

Kickoff: The Huskies will look to bounce back after a tough 26-21 loss at Duke last week. UConn leads the all-time series between the schools 1-0. The Huskies best Florida Atlantic 61-14 win on Nov. 2, 2002 at Memorial Stadium in Storrs.

Here are four keys to the game.

1st Down: Fast start offensively: Nick Evers and company need to get off to a fast start offensively. Two weeks ago, the Huskies jumped all over Merrimack and they need to do the same in this game. Simple put, they are a different team when they play with the lead.

2nd Down: Keep feeding Cam: Cam Edwards had a big game last week against Duke and is once again the focal point of the offense. UConn is at its best when they run the football and control the pace. The Huskies need to establish Edwards and the ground game early and set a physical tone against an undersized FAU front.

3rd Down: Defense must win the line of scrimmage: FAU will look to pound the ball. It is imperative that the Huskies control the line of scrimmage defensively and not allow the Owls to establish running back Zuberi Mobley. If they do, it could be a long afternoon for UConn.

4th Down: Play a four quarter game: The Huskies need to play a complete game. They cannot come out slow and think they can turn it on in the second half. UConn is not good enough to play that way. They must put together a complete effort in all three phases like they did last week.

Extra Point: The Huskies start a program-record six-game homestand. The six opponents have a combined record of 7-11 entering the week. If UConn wants to be in Bowl contention, they must take advantage of this stretch and win at least four out of six.

Final Drive: The Huskies must take advantage of this six game home stand. If they do not, it will be a missed opportunity at being bowl eligible. It starts tonight with a win over a bad FAU team that struggles to score points. For UConn, it is all about playing fundamentally sound and limiting mistakes
