FOXBOROUGH- The Patriots took care of business against the rival Jets, 27-14 on Thursday Night Football. It wasn’t the prettiest win they have had this season as they faced some early adversity but overcame it and pulled away in the second half.

Perhaps the biggest story to follow after this game is the status of defensive tackle Milton Williams who left the game early with ankle injury.

The Patriots became the first team to hit the nine win marker in the NFL.

Here are seven points from the Patriots win over the Jets.

1. Henderson is the star of the show again: Trey’veon Henderson once again powered the Patriots offense in the win, scoring two rushing touchdowns and catching a touchdown pass. Henderson has scored five touchdowns in the last two games. He has become the team’s featured back and could end up pulling a Wally Pipp on Rhamondre Stevenson. After a slow start, Henderson has become the back the Patriots were hoping he would be when they drafted him in the second round of April’s draft.

2. Defense gives up opening score again: For the eighth time in eleven games, the Patriots defense surrendered points on the opponents opening drive. It is not ideal and it hasn’t hurt them yet, but this is a trend that the Patriots need to break. Falling behind early is a problem and it will catch up to them against a better opponent, either later this season or in the playoffs.

3. Maye’s Day: Drake Maye completed 25-of-34 passes for 271 yards and a touchdown. He finished with a passer rating of 107.6. It was a nice bounce back game for him. He took care of the ball and didn’t make any questionable decisions. He missed a couple of throws but overall, Maye was good.

4. Diggs comes up big: Diggs caught 9 passes for 105 yards and once again made clutch catches when the Patriots needed to convert on third down and extend drives. He has emerged as the team’s number one receiver and he should be able to maintain that role moving forward. Diggs is an alpha and he is proving that night. Thursday’s 100 yard receiving game was the 39th of his career.

5. Go big or go home: The Patriots utilized a lot of six offensive lineman in 21 personnel. Ben Brown checked in as an eligible offensive lineman and lined up as the tight end on the line of scrimmage. This allowed Josh McDaniels to move Hunter Henry around and use him in the passing game. The move proved especially beneficial in the run game despite the Patriots meager numbers on the ground.

6. Milton Williams leaves early: Milton Williams left the game early with an ankle injury. After missing an extended portion of the game, he did return but then left the game and was ruled out in the fourth quarter. The mini bye should help him in terms of recovery but it is still too early to tell what the extent of the injury is.

7. A win is a win: Patriots fans were expecting a blow out win versus the lowly Jets but had to sweat it out a little bit. In the end, a win is a win. You don’t get style points for wins. The Patriots took care of business and became the first team in the NFL to nine wins. Now they get to rest up a bit before coming back Monday to prepare for the Bengals.
