2016 NFL Draft: The Cleveland Browns Finally Made a Good Deal.

Sashi Brown proved yesterday that the Browns are more than capable of making a good football deal.

Miracles do happen and the Cleveland Browns proved that yesterday. The Brownies finally made a good football trade. They got a boatload in return from the Philadelphia Eagles for the number two pick in next Thursday’s draft. The Browns had to make a deal and move down and they did.

The deal gives Cleveland more picks, something they desperately need in their efforts to rebuild what is arguably the worst roster in the NFL. For the Browns, this draft isn’t just about drafting a franchise quarterback. It’s about acquiring as much talent as possible.

The Browns could still grab a potential franchise quarterback at pick eight by drafting Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch. Lynch could have more long term upside than Jared Goff or Carson Wentz. Cleveland could also move down again which given the current state of their roster, is probably a good idea.

I’m not on board with Sashi Brown’s analytical approach because I don’t think it works in football. It’s still a players game. That being said, when you as many picks as the Browns do, it’s hard to screw it up. However, history has taught us a valuable lesson. If there is one team that could screw it up, it’s the Browns!

All of that being said, I am going to keep a positive outlook regarding the Browns in this upcoming draft. They took a step in the right direction yesterday by making a great trade. Now they need to make the deal work for them. Of course, all the work they did to make this deal happen could go down the drain if they don’t draft some quality, impact players. Again, I’m keeping a positive outlook on the Browns. Can you blame for being facetious? It’s the Browns. They have a history of screwing. Hopefully they can buck that trend in this draft.
