A familiar face will be roaming the Central Catholic next season. Offensive coordinator John Sexton will replace Chuck Adamopoulos as head football coach. Sexton is a 1997 graduate of Central Catholic and has coached at his alma mater for the past 22 years.

Sexton has served as offensive coordinator for the past 13 years and has coached some of the most prolific offenses in the state. He is excited about the opportunity to take over a program he loves.

“I am very grateful and humbled to have the opportunity to lead this amazing football program,” said Sexton. ‘I love Central Catholic – it’s my home! It’s great place to go to school, a great place for athletics and I just can’t wait to get to work.”

Director of Athletics and Activities Zach Blaszak is excited about Sexton’s hiring and what he brings to the program.

“We are really excited for John to become the next Head Varsity Football Coach. As an alumnus of Central Catholic and its football program, John has been a dedicated and passionate coach whose success has been shown on and off the field. He has some big shoes to fill as he follows CCHS Hall of Fame Coach and legend, Chuck Adamopoulos, but I am confident that John will succeed and further strengthen our storied football program. I look forward to continuing working with John and foresee a strong future of CCHS Raider football.”

Sexton succeeds the legendary Chuck Adamopoulos who went 204-79 and won three Super Bowls. The Red Raiders went back to back in 1997 and 1998. He has been a building based educator the past two years at the school.

The Red Raiders return several key starters from last season most notably quarterback Blake Herbert who is poised for a big season. Sexton is expected to keep the majority of the staff together so the transition to the top job should be relatively seamless.
