Maitre entered the portal on December 2nd and initially committed to Liberty but then decommitted and ultimately settled on committing to Wisconsin and new coach Luke Fickell.
Maitre has played outside corner, nickel and safety so he is a versatile defensive back who will be a good fit in new defensive coordinator Mike Tressel’s defense.
Maitre originally committed to Boston College in December 2017. He ended up choosing BC over Bryant and Rhode Island.
Maitre played in 11 games in 2019 and 2020 and eight games in 2021. A graduate transfer, Maitre will have one year of eligibility remaining. The 5-10 190 defensive back is expected to play corner for the Badgers.
