Catholic Memorial running back Carson Harwood announced yesterday that he is committing to the University of Rhode Island.
Harwood has been one of the state’s most prolific offensive player’s the past three years. Despite that, it took him awhile to accumulate offers but they started coming in after last season.
Ultimately, Harwood chose to stay closer to home and he committed to Jim Fleming and the Rams. The decision for Harwood was a no-brainer.

“I’m blessed a division one team noticed my talents and are giving me an opportunity They have a great coaching staff that likes me a lot, there also telling me they love to run the rock that’s all I really need to hear.”
Catholic Memorial Coach John DiBiaso raved about Harwood when asked what he brings to the table as a football player.
“He’s an every-down back,” DiBiaso said. “He can run inside on first down, outside on second down, and catch the ball on third down.”
By the sound of things, Harwood will stay at running back at URI. He should be a great scheme fit in offensive coordinator Pat Murphy’s spread offense.
Harwood also held an offer from Bowling Green. In the end, he chose to stay closer to home and play for a program that is on the rise in the CAA.
