High School: New England High School Round Up- Week 4

There were some upsets and blowouts throughout New England this past weekend so without further ado, let’s talk some New England High School Football.


Soutbington beat Greenwich 29-28 in what could be the game of the year in the state of Connecticut. Simsbury is up next.

New Caanan beat Fairfield Prep 14-7 in a defensive struggle. The Rams are rolling along and host Bridgeport Central this week.

Both Trumbull and West Haven improved to 3-0 with wins this past weekend. Both appear to be serious contender in LL.

St. Joe’s picked up a big win over Masuk, 24-21. It’s the Hogs second win over a Top 25 team this season.


Leavitt remains the number one team in the state at 5-0. They beat a good Wells team 36-0. Next up for the Hornets is a date with Lawrence.

Cape Elizabeth beat South Portland 41-13 to improve to 4-1 on the season. The Capers are balanced on offense and the defense has made some big plays when they’ve needed them this season.

Bonny Eagle won a shootout with Edward Little 52-48. The Scots survived despite their defense continuing to be generous.

Oxford Hills improved to 4-0 thanks to their 28-16 win over Portland. The Vikings have only surrendered 45 points this season.


King Philip beat Xaverian 19-14 to earn one of the biggest wins in program history. The Warriors defense was dominate despite giving up two big plays.

Springfield Central hung tough with St. John’s College H.S and represented the State of Massachusetts well. Quarterback William Watson proved he can play against elite national competition.

Marblehead still has the state’s longest winning streak at 23 in a row after surviving a tough game on the road against North Andover. The Magicians are battle tested. They know how to win any kind of a game.

Both Milton and Walpole are coming off of big wins last week and play each other on Friday night in a huge Bay State League showdown.

New Hampshire

Londonderry picked up an impressive 31-6 win over Pinkerton to remain the state’s number one team.

Bishop Guertin rolled to a 42-6 win over Merrimack. The Cardinals have been dominate this season. They have scored 170 points this season while only giving up 40.

Spaulding continues to be one of the state’s biggest surprises after their 36-23 win over Dover.

Trinity beat Monadnock 28-0 to improve to 4-0. They remain the early season favorite in D3.

Rhode Island

LaSalle Academy survived against Central 21-12 in one of the state’s top match ups thus far this season. The Rams head north this week to take St. John’s Prep (Mass).

Cumberland made a huge statement with their win over East Providence. The Clippers having the makings of a title contender in D2.

Woonsocket improved to 3-0 after a 16-7 win over Shea. The Villa Novans will be tested this week when they travel to Central.

West Warwick beat Pilgrim 19-7 to remain undefeated. The Wizards continue to be a pleasant surprise in Rhode Island.


Burr & Burton picked up a hard fought 24-14 win over Hartford on Saturday. The Bulldogs face a stiff test Friday night when they travel to St. Johnsbury.

Windsor remained undefeated after their 42-6 win over Rice. The Yellowjackets have been dominate in all three phases thus far this season.

North County Union moved to 4-0 after an impressive 54-0 win over Milton. The Falcons are averaging 44.5 points per game and have one of the best offenses in the state.

Champlain Valley Union beat SJA in a shootout to improve to 3-1. They have Hartford this week and have a huge tilt next week when they host Burr and Burton.
